Marilyn Appleberg brings to her real estate career a tireless energy and a life-long love affair with her native city. Her longtime home has been a top-floor aerie in an 1856 brownstone located in one of the city’s first historic districts. As President of the 10th & Stuyvesant Streets Block Association since its inception, she has overseen the expansion, protection and ongoing beautification of the St. Mark’s Historic District.
Marilyn is known as someone who gets things done. Whether she is organizing her neighbors to purchase a complex of six historic townhouses and then spearheading their conversion into one of the East Village’s more desired co-ops (of which she is Board President), or cajoling city officials to create a park on her street, as well as establishing a weekly summer concert series in that park, she is goal-oriented, tenacious and creative.
Marilyn’s knowledge of New York is an added asset. “Ms. Appleberg deserves laurels for knowledge, accuracy, brevity and taste….” was how one critic greeted the first edition of her best-selling book, “The I Love New York Guide,” published by Macmillan. She put her impressive negotiating skills to good use, acting as her own agent she turned that one book into the successful “I Love Cities Guides,” which she later sold to Fodor’s Travel. Marilyn subsequently published two editions of the popular “Romantic NY: 165 Romantic Things to See & Do in New York.”
Marilyn Appleberg knows through her life experience how valuable home is. She will listen to your goals and make sure you attain them. If you are looking for your first home she will make what can be a daunting process smooth. If you are upgrading or downsizing, she understands that change, no matter how positive, can be stressful; Marilyn knows how to be there for her clients. She long ago found her perfect home and she is ready and able to do the same for you.
