My entire career, since 1980, has been in real estate and construction. I moved to NYC four days after graduating from Swarthmore College in 1980. Within a year I had established an interior construction company. But, several years later, I noticed something: many brokers knew almost nothing about the construction of the apartments and buildings they were selling, but were earning larger fees selling real estate than I was earning creating it and renovating it. So, after some thought, I switched to real estate brokerage.

I began as a salesperson at Julian J. Studley in 1985. In the early 90s, when the market stalled in the wake of the crash of 1987, I went back to construction and took a position as the director of the interior construction division of Tishman Construction. In 1999 I began my own company and ran it until 2015 when I retired and moved abroad with my family. For reasons unrelated to business we returned to the US in 2019 and I was delighted to be welcomed back to the US with a steady stream of referrals for new business from collegues I've known, in some cases, for decades. As a result I recently formed the Katina Corporation, named for my grandmother, an exceptionally brilliant woman who, mostly because she was a woman, was denied a fomal education, an ache she carried her entire life.

Over the three plus decades that I've worked in real estate brokerage and construction I have structured commercial leasing, retail leasing, building sales and apartment sales across New York City. I bring, besides vast experience as a broker, a deep understanding of how buildings are built, a skill set rare among brokers.
