Permits have been filed for an 11-story residential building at 108 St. Edwards Street in Fort Greene, Brooklyn.  The property is located at the southwest corner of Myrtle Avenue and St. Edwards Street across from Fort Greene Park. 

The site was the former home to the Church of St. Michael and St. Edward.  The church, which dates back to 1891, has been in disrepair for years and will be razed.  Michael Campo of the Diocese of Brooklyn is listed as the owner behind the applications.  Aufgang Architects is listed as the architect of record.

The proposed 115 foot tall development will total 32,133 square feet, the bulk of which will be residential space.  There will be a small community facility consisting of 1,274 square feet.  Based on 105 residential apartments, the average size of a unit will be about 294 square feet.  The small size of these units would indicate that the building might be used as housing for the diocese.  According to the permit there are no parking spaces.  

The property is within easy walking distance to Long Island University Brooklyn and The Brooklyn Hospital Center. The area is serviced by the B, Q and R subway lines at Dekalb subway station.
