Rentals have been launched at 243 West 28th Street, aka Ruby, in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan.   This mid-block property is located between Seventh Avenue and Eighth Avenue and sits directly across from the Fashion Institute of Technology.

The Ruby consists of two 22-story towers separated by an interior courtyard.  The property’s footprint extends through the block and has frontage on both 28th Street and 29th Street.  The building offers 480 apartments, 30% (144 units) of which have been set aside as affordable housing units.  There will be a significant retail presence on the ground floor.

The building features a plethora of lifestyle amenities with an emphasis on harmonious living.   The marketing materials for the property promotes a “commitment and focus on one’s health and well-being.”  And yes, the Ruby delivers.   The building blooms with natural green spaces and includes areas to relax or recreate.  One can mingle with new friends or find solitude in almost every public space.

The amenities package includes multiple fitness rooms, a lobby-level garden, a second level courtyard with grilling stations, a children’s play room, a lounge and a library.  Above it all, the roof level features an indoor lounge, a grill terrace and an outdoor pool with panoramic views of the Hudson River and the Manhattan skyline.

While you may not ever feel the need to leave the building, a short stroll westward brings with it some of the city’s favorite recreational offerings: The High Line, the Hudson River Greenway and Chelsea Piers.

MAG Partners developed the property while CookFOX Architects served as the architect.  MAG Partners is currently developing two other residential projects in Manhattan:  355 Eighth Avenue and 300 East 50th Street.

At the apartment level, design elements include high ceilings, white oak floors, recessed lighting and floor-to-ceiling double-glazed Pella windows.  Additional features include Smart Home Keyless Entry, blackout and solar shades, washer/dryers, Internet pre-wiring and energy efficient multi-zoned heating/cooling systems.
