Property Description for 345 East 4th Street

A World of Possibilities

Just a few steps into this incredible building you'll feel like you've entered another world, where the stars always shine brightly and the sky has no limit. Known as The Church of St. Isidoro & St. Leandro, this building is incredible as is, but also offers a world of possibility as a house of worship, community center, school, single family home, development site or just about anything you can imagine.

Currently, the main floor is a spectacular and ornate 74 foot sanctuary featuring a soaring 30 foot ceiling. With stained glass windows and gold leaf sconces, virtually every inch of wall space is covered in framed art and elaborate, spiritual, three dimensional mosaics. There is an 800 square foot mezzanine/balcony, originally built for the choir, where you'll feel like you can reach for stars, as the ceiling has been lovingly hand painted with golden stars. The sanctuary feels ethereal and, dare we say, almost magical.

The building's lower level, which housed the church's social hall with stage and kitchen, offers close to 2,000 square feet of usable space. The upper level currently features a two bedroom apartment with large terrace. Additionally, there is 5,000 square feet of unused air rights.

Located in vibrant and eclectic Alphabet City, this charming block is home to three Community Gardens and is convenient to both East River Park and beautiful Tompkins Square Park, as well as eclectic, trendy restaurants and cafes and public transportation.

If you are even the least bit curious, take a moment and visit this unique property. Words and photos can't do it justice. Come experience the magic of this space and see the world of opportunity and unlimited potential.

East Village | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The East Village has two distinct moods. By day, it is quiet and peaceful. Everyone is out and about, either working or relaxing at Tompkins Square Park, strolling or jogging along the East River, or hanging out in one of the subsets of cultural activity, such as St. Mark’s Place.

But then night falls, and the East Village comes to life, keeping the entertainment and nightlife going long after the other neighborhoods have called it quits for the night. People from all five boroughs flock to the dive bars and speakeasies, head for their favorite cafes and restaurants, or drop in to a music venue to listen to hot tunes or cool jazz and dance the night away. Don’t worry, you don’t have to “know somebody” to gain admittance to even the most popular venues. You won’t find velvet ropes, bouncers, or and a waiting list at the door of most places. Just walk right in and enjoy yourself.

Be prepared for the increased population during fall through spring, when NYU is in session. College students will be everywhere, contributing to the youthful essense of the neighborhood.
