Property Description for 152 Elizabeth Street, 2-E

The first. The only. The final. Brand new for immediate delivery, this sublime home can be bought fully furnished with exquisite, brand new DDC furnishings....and parking. With an exacting eye and generous spirit, Pritzker Prize Laureate Tadao Ando and renowned interior architect Michael Gabellini have made history with 152 Elizabeth Street, the first and only - and final - property of its kind. Ideally situated in vibrant Nolita, the building stands as Ando’s first residential condominium outside of Asia with just seven custom-crafted residences ranging in size from half-floor two and three-bedroom apartments to full-floor four bedrooms and one exquisite penthouse.

Residence 2E is a generously proportioned two-bedroom, two-bathroom, one powder room home with gracious proportions at 2,015 square feet. The interiors evoke a thoughtful sense of customized craft and refinement never found in new development. The private, key-locked elevator opens directly into a serene entry gallery laid in Pietra Cardosa stone. Recessed, ambient, and cove lighting by celebrated designer Cooley Monato provide a soft glow, and a state-of-the-art humidification system is ideal for the preservation of artwork and fine furnishings. The residence features 14-20” wide Dinesen Heart Oak flooring with craftsman-quality butterfly joints and wrapped oak corridors, concealed HVAC distribution systems, and architectural wall reveals throughout the residence. No surface touches another directly to lend an air of lightness as if walls appear to be floating.

The kitchen is tailor-made by Milan-based firm Minimal and boasts honed Fango marble counters, a massive sliding island countertop, Italian Eucalyptus wood cabinetry, and a fully integrated Gaggenau appliance package. Adjacent to the grand, open kitchen is a superbly proportioned, north-facing living room, ideal for casual lounging and formal entertaining alike.

The Dinesen wood-wrapped corridor leads to the bedroom suites, each with en-suite bathrooms clad in Bianco Sivec marble with CEA designed fixtures, under-counter glacier white Corian vanities and large-scale optical glass mirrors. The Primary bathroom also features custom-designed stainless steel hardware by Gabellini Sheppard Associates.

By thoughtfully weaving eastern and western sensibilities, Ando and Gabellini deliver performance-driven sanctuaries that accurately embrace the transformative nature of that which surrounds them. With a high acuity for the senses, each residence offers an atmosphere that is sensitive to interaction while being built for permanence.

Amenities include a full-time doorman and parking as well as storage units available for purchase.

Little Italy | Manhattan

Quick Profile

It’s fitting that the neighborhood’s name is Little Italy because It’s been getting smaller for decades. The Italian immigrants that flooded New York City and built the vibrant ethnic enclave in the 1860s and 1880s eventually left for greener pastures, assimilating into other parts of the city or suburbs. The disappearance of Little Italy is a sad story as far as neighborhoods go, but it’s one that should be told.

Little Italy once spanned 50 square blocks and represented the biggest population of Italian immigrants in America. But in recent years, it’s been squeezed by the growth of Chinatown and SoHo and muscled from the rebranding of other neighborhoods like NoHo and NoLIta. In fact, NoLita was the culprit that cut the neighborhood in two. Little Italy’s boundaries may vary depending upon who you ask. Today it’s down to just a few blocks along Mulberry Street.

One of the best ways to experience Little Italy is through its food. Take your pick from mom-and-pop markets, meat and cheese shops, or authentic sit-down restaurants that offer the very best in Italian cuisine.

Every September (since 1926), the neighborhood hosts the Feast of San Gennaro, which celebrates the patron Saint of Naples Italy. 11 days of food, colorful parades, music performances, and more food. The aroma of zeppole and grilled sausage can be smelt for blocks. Try planning your visit around this festive time. It’s well worth it.
