Property Description for 400 East 52nd Street, 15-D

This charming high floor 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom home is a seamless combination of pre-war architecture and modern finishes in the sought-after Emory Roth designed co-op – Southgate. Better than a corner unit, this bright home offers three exposure with open views North, West and South. A gracious foyer leads you to the living room where you’re greeted with skyline views, high beamed ceilings and a wood burning fireplace. The large open chef’s kitchen includes custom cabinetry, high-end appliances and a large breakfast bar uniquely designed to fit 6 people. The spacious bedrooms fit king-size beds and each have their own walk-in closet and fully renovated en-suite bathroom. In addition to light and views, the bedrooms are equipped with individual temperature controls allowing for year around comfort. Added features of this elegant home are hardwood floors and moldings throughout, built-ins and ample storage and closets. Located on a quiet cul-de-sac, 400 East 52nd Street is part of the Southgate complex, which was developed in 1927 by Bing and Bing who commissioned the famed Emory Roth to design the five buildings. The white-glove buildings feature full-time doormen and staff, on-site building management, garden, storage, bike room and central laundry. The building allows pied-a-terre's and is pet friendly. Beekman Place | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Beekman Place is less of a neighborhood than it is a quiet two-block enclave just north of the United Nations on the far eastern edge of Turtle Bay. There is only one street that runs through the neighborhood, also called Beekman Place, that wraps itself around 49th Street and 51st Street.

This bucolic little stretch of the east side has always been a cherished spot for those fortunate enough to have found refuge here. The noise and the street traffic from the city surrounds is virtually non-existent as there are no through streets in this neighborhood.

The neighborhood composition largely consists of a few clusters of townhouses and prewar co-ops. The exception to the rule is the charming art-deco-styled Beekman Place Hotel at the corner of First Avenue and 49th Street and the two post-war towers, 860 and 870 UN Plaza that front the grounds of the United Nations.
