Property Description for 311 West Broadway, 6-E

Situated on the western edge of Soho's historic Cast Iron District, Soho Mews remains an iconic full-service condominium designed by American Architecture Award recipient Gwathmey Siegel & Associates. This expertly located property offers residents a fully staffed lobby entrance on West Broadway and an additional entry or exit onto cobblestoned Wooster Street, allowing for additional privacy and convenience.

Residence 6E is a high floor, oversized 3-bedroom, 3-bath offering 2,284 square feet of living space and 10.3-foot ceilings. Arguably the home's best feature is its unique triple exposure facing east, north and west. High floor E lines were the development's most popular floor plans as the view starts to break over the neighboring architecture, which allows for stunning natural light and open views of Soho.
br>Upon entering this immaculately maintained residence, a dramatic 28-foot entryway welcomes you into an impressive gallery with multiple art walls. Just off the gallery is a large, gorgeously appointed open kitchen with state-of-the-art appliances and endless storage. The corner great room was designed with comfort and luxury in mind offering a large dining area, a living room lounge and one-of-a-kind millwork housing media, art and a home library. Floor-to-ceiling windows flank opposite walls of the home which act as a cross way for beautiful natural light all day.

West facing, the pin-drop quiet master bedroom is a true suite with enough room for a king size bed, sofa and home office. A fully fitted walk-in closet separates the sleeping area from the five-fixture, windowed master bathroom featuring a massive glass enclosed shower, separate tub, double sinks, radiant heat and generous storage spaces. The second and third bedrooms are winged, large and bright; one with an en-suite bathroom and additional custom designed storage. The third full bathroom has a deep soaking tub and doubles as a guest bathroom off the gallery. Additional features of 6E include custom window treatments in every room, recessed surround sound speakers and separate zones for controlling A/C.

This is truly a wow factor home which effortlessly seams stunning natural light with a dramatic yet highly efficient floor plan; all in a top caliber building set in the most desirable and vibrant downtown neighborhood.

Soho Mews is a full-service, tax abated condominium comprised of 68 homes that are split between two nine-story structures. The building features a full-time doorman, a live-in superintendent, on-site attended parking, a sky-lit fitness center and a 4,000-square-foot, multi-tiered courtyard ideal for outdoor hangouts.

Quick Profile

Famous for its art galleries, designer boutiques, cobblestone streets and cast-iron architecture, SoHo has always been full of buzz - wowing both tourists and locals alike. It’s rich with history (more so than most neighborhoods). So, whether you’re a computer nerd, serial shopper or foodie, you’re guaranteed to find something exciting to do in this storied neighborhood.

SoHo is bounded by Houston Street to the north, Canal Street in the south, 6th Avenue to the west and Crosby Street on the east.

The neighborhood has gone through many ups and downs over its long history. Enough to make a voluminous history book. When the Dutch discovered Lower Manhattan, they came across indigenous people living on the island. Technically, the American Indians were the first Manhattanites and then the Dutch moved in making them the second original Manhattanites.

After the Civil War ended, the west side of Lower Manhattan flourished because the shipping routes changed. Textiles and the need for all types of products increased. Warehouses and large lofts were built and replaced farmland to accommodate the commerce. Many of those buildings are still standing and give SoHo its unique character and charm.

The bustling commerce eventually stopped and in the mid 1800’s, well-to-do families began moving into SoHo. They built exquisite buildings, many of which are characterized by their cast-iron facades. Soon after it became residential, theatres, music halls and eateries followed. The wealthy eventually left and the once prosperous district began another decline.

The 1960’s marks SoHo’s most definitive period. City planners lost their bid to build a major highway that would level a portion of the neighborhood and many historic buildings. After their failed attempt to revitalize SoHo, artists quickly moved into the empty lofts and warehouses. Some legally, and other move-ins, not so legal. The city turned a blind eye. Artists of all mediums working from their new creative spaces created a ripple in the art scene. It was such a ripple that the well-to-do uptown crowd started buying their art and hanging out with them. The uptown folks eventually moved into the neighborhood and began buying up the lofts and warehouses. As soon as the word spread, up went the property values and the rest is history.
