Property Description for 54 85th Street

Welcome to the 54 85th Street, a gracious and beautiful, full detached, single family home in the heart of Bay Ridge. Nested in a quite tree-lined block, on a wide 33 x112 extra long lot, is this expansive 3300 gross foot home, complete with a finished basement, backyard, garage and car port.

Upon opening the front door, there is a spacious and inviting foyer, leading you to a raised sprawling living room. Beautifully maintained wood floors can be seen throughout the entire parlor floor, and the backdrop to this lovely room is a decorative wood mantel fireplace. This generous living area will allow you to spend countless days and evenings entertaining family and friends. If not here, then why not in the formal dining room? The gracious dining room is accessible either through the passage way off the living room or from the kitchen. The modern kitchen offers stainless steel appliances, and showcases handsome dark custom-built wood cabinets, and ceramic tile backsplash. The windowed kitchen overlooks the landscaped backyard/patio, so you can easily cook a family dinner and watch the children play in the completely enclosed backyard. On this floor, there is a guest half bathroom.

On the second floor are three well-proportioned bedrooms and a tastefully renovated full bathroom with a stained glass inlet. Continuing up the stairs to the third floor, are the last two sun-kissed bedrooms. The home boasts a total of 5 bedrooms and 2.5 baths. To complete this family home, you have a bonus level.
The lower level is a multifunctional, finished basement offering a cozy recreational room with gas fireplace, a bar, second kitchen, laundry room and full bath. There is additional storage as well.

Location is ideal, with all major shopping within a short walk to 5th avenue shopping corridor as well as 86th street corridor. Steps to Shore Road, offering scenic views of New York City Harbor, bike lanes and tranquility. Easy commute to Manhattan with Express Bus stop 2 blocks away.

Bay Ridge | Brooklyn

Lush front yards and trimmed hedges are pretty common in Bay Ridge.

Quick Profile

Bay Ridge is an old-world neighborhood neatly tucked into the southwest corner of Brooklyn within the shadows of the Verrazano Bridge. The neighborhood is encircled by the Belt Parkway along the shore line and the Gowanus Expressway inland.

Bay Ridge, long known for its generational pull, has historically been home to a diverse number of ethnic groups. While the area is flush with people of Irish, Italian and Greek descent, these ethnic communities have been joined by larger numbers of new groups, including people with Russian, Polish, Asian and Middle Eastern backgrounds. The Arab American community today in Bay Ridge represents the largest concentration of Arab Americans in New York City.

For many years, Bay Ridge and its waterside location, would attract the affluent. But most of the mansions that once lined Shore Road are long gone and have been replaced by six-story apartment buildings.

Aside from the low-rise apartment buildings, the neighborhood pretty much consists of one and two-family homes. Lush front yards and trimmed hedges are pretty common here.

Current zoning and limitations on building heights restrict any out of the norm development. At present, the future beholds small development on some of the commercial strips and teardowns of older homes for smaller residential projects.
