Property Description for 264 Bainbridge Street

Renovated with love! This Sunny Bainbridge Street beauty has soul and will add a little poetry and a lot of sunlight to your everyday life.

Why buy a condo when you can have your own beautifully renovated 3 bedroom 2.5 bath home with low taxes and thoughtful finishes that are both charming and functional. The sweet eat in kitchen has upscale chef quality appliances including a Bertazzoni oven that VENTS out, a Bosch dishwasher and a self defrosting Euro style refrigerator. The warmth of design is abundant! From the exposed beams to the lovely mantle piece and open shelving, with exposed bricks and a custom chevron design wrought iron gate (my favorite!) that leads to your own private outdoor retreat. Notice the cute zen shed in the yard? That can be yours too!

The front entry has a beautiful and inviting mosaic tile design, and the living room is both warm and inviting - with a whimsical jewel-box powder room, off to the side, that is practical, and quite charming. Upstairs there are two bedrooms and the master bath - which is gorgeous! - with a claw foot tub, pedestal sink, subway tiles on the walls and marble mosaic on the floors.

Currently configured as a 3 bedroom with separate entrance to the garden level 3rd bedroom suite - which makes for an excellent hospitality suite or small mother-in-law apartment (in the making) with a private full bathroom, as well as pantry. There is also a zen like shed in the yard - which can be used as a home office or just really pretty storage. Want to convert to a 2 unit building or add an extension? We have the plans! On the garden level there is also a small pantry space with a butcher board counter-top and a Kenmore washer/dryer that vents out. Additional sitting space for a sewing room, bike storage or just to sit and read the paper.

This sweet townhouse sits on a 97 ft lot with an additional 1200 sq ft of buildable sq footage and gets amazing light all day long! We promise - you wont be disappointed to call this home sweet home!

Quick Profile

Known for its historic brownstones and tight-knit enclave, Bed-Stuy has increasingly left behind its early reputation for being a “bedroom community” and transcended into a highly desirable neighborhood.

Distinct for its aesthetic, it is populated with ornate buildings characterized by cornices, friezes, finials, fluting and other marks of classic architecture. Built up during the period from 1870 to 1900, its historic district runs to the north of Jefferson Avenue, to the east of Malcolm X Boulevard and to the west of Tompkins Avenue.

At one point known as “Brooklyn’s Little Harlem,” the shape of the area has shifted toward attracting a wider demographic of people thanks to the influx of bars, restaurants, antique furniture stores and vintage boutiques. More police enforcement paired with the decline of the crack epidemic at the beginning of the 2000s also opened the door for increased development, as well as the occupation of formerly abandoned buildings and spaces.
