Property Description for 224 Palmetto Street

Bushwick is experiencing a renaissance these days. And a lot of that has to do with townhouses like this on Palmetto Street that attracts creative types looking for great accommodations near transportation in a thriving arts community If you’re searching for that and more, then this townhouse delivers on all 3 must-haves better than any fixed to flip property for sale in the neighborhood today. Here in the heart of Bushwick is a 2 family townhouse with hardwood floors, high ceilings and tastefully remodeled Kitchens and Bathrooms. This home has been in the same family for over 27 years. In the last 5 years they remodeled the ground floor to include a huge Eat in kitchen with granite countertops, stainless steel appliances and island counter top for dining and meal prep. The kitchen leads you out to a large backyard that contains a storage shed, small garden and paved patio area for BBQ’s and entertaining family and friends. You’ll also find a semi-finished basement that has a front and backyard entrance offering lots of storage and recreational space to carve out for a studio / home office to work in. The top floor has seen its kitchen and bathroom remodeled, leaving the front 2 rooms open to your design and remodeling touch. From here in Bushwick you’re just 2 blocks from the Myrtle-Wyckoff Ave train station where you can catch the M train into Manhattan and Williamsburg. On days when nature beckons, you can bike over to this park to enjoy its playgrounds, winding paths and dog run. And when you’re ready for a night out, Bushwick has the clubs, bars and venues to see promising artist perform live before they’re discovered.

Bushwick | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

As one of the most diverse neighborhoods in New York, Bushwick offers a perfect snapshot of just how multicultural the city is. Long-established as an amalgam of cultures and ethnicities, a wave of varying types of immigrants trickled in from the seventeenth to twentieth centuries, with Bushwick largely becoming a home to Hispanics of Puerto Rican and Dominican backgrounds by the latter part of the twentieth century.

With the Bushwick Initiative of the mid-00s that aided in revitalization, it became an attractive area to young professionals and artists. And even now, Bushwick has sustained affordable rent prices where other North Brooklyn counterparts, like Williamsburg and Greenpoint, have become more expensive. Priding itself on the weird and the wacky, numerous art collectives thrive in this part of Brooklyn, once famously named the seventh coolest neighborhood in the world by Vogue.

Though it has drawn in many tourists in recent years (there’s even a graffiti tour you can take from the Bushwick Collective), the neighborhood remains very much community-oriented, and has not been subject to quite the same sort of corporate infiltration phenomenon of its nearby Williamsburg environs.

But yes, of course, Bushwick has come a very long way from its 80s and 90s reputation as being “The Well,” a nickname given to it for its free-flowing and widely available amount of drugs (quantity over quality being the cliche applied here).
