Property Description for 234 Seeley Street

Magic happens when you least expect it. On the market for only the 3rd time since its beginnings over 100 years ago, this very special house has been lovingly cared for with an artist’s touch. Located on highly coveted Seeley Street, just steps from Prospect Park, this brick front Arts and Crafts house with meticulously preserved detail exudes charm inside and out. Sitting on a 150-ft lot with a lovely covered front porch, the deep and lush backyard is planted with fragrant perennials such as roses, peonies, and butterfly bushes. You even have your very own grape arbor. Inside, period detail such as original moldings, original clawfoot tub, and stunning original stained glass are dotted throughout the house and add character to the updated kitchens and baths. The house is currently used as a legal 2-family with a 2BR rental upstairs and a 1BR plus den in the downstairs owner’s duplex. Continue to use as is and collect high income or with the removal of a wall and kitchen, transform the house seamlessly and beautifully to a spacious single-family with 3 or 4 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, plus a sunny, oversized, semi-finished garden level floor with 8-ft ceilings that walks out onto the yard and brick patio from two exits. Half of this level is the open artists studio that can be finished to your taste and the other part is the finished den/office/guest room with custom built in cabinets, bamboo floors and half bath. Many updates such as roof, boiler, all windows, all appliances and, hot water heater, have all been replaced and updated within the last few years. The location cannot be beat: a five minute walk to everything in Windsor Terrace including the subway and the best of the dining scene -- Butterfunk Kitchen, Della and Le Paddock. A two minute stroll takes you into the park and Vanderbilt playground, the dog run at the Peninsula and of course, Uncle Louie G’s. We look forward to meeting you and showing you this jewel of a home.

Windsor Terrace | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

The tiny, comma-shaped neighborhood of Windsor Terrace is bookended between two of Brooklyn’s largest green spaces, Prospect Park and the massive Green-Wood cemetery. Aside from the presence of the Prospect Park Expressway, which dissects the neighborhood in two, this residential community offers a suburban sensibility with its tree-lined streets, low volume traffic and the low height character of its streetscape.

Many homes in the area are low to the ground, lending a suburban feel to the neighborhood, and the area has been down-zoned to maintain its low-rise appeal and character. There are plentiful brick row houses that have very low turnover. If you are lucky enough to buy or rent one, you tend to hold on to it. There are also small apartment buildings, private homes, condos and multi-family homes in a wide price range

There is commercial development along Prospect Park West, Fort Hamilton Parkway and Prospect Avenue, but even these new stores and restaurants are mostly family-owned and operated, maintaining the small-town charm. The pace of life is slower. The schools are good, which is a big draw for families with young children. The people are friendly, which gives a real sense of neighborhood and community to Windsor Terrace.
