Situated on a lovely tree-lined block at the corner of Macon Street, 1 Verona Place is an awe inspiring home crafted with the highest quality finishes and state-of-the-art execution. Developers Dahill and Bunce have again joined forces to create another exceptional Bedford-Stuyvesant home. They have completed a meticulous gut-renovation while maintaining the historic facade and staying true to the original architecture and spirit of the neighborhood. The workmanship, materials, construction and design are unparalleled and apparent throughout. The conversion includes: the installation of 25 Landmark approved, Jeld Wen windows, rift sawn white oak hardwood floors with walnut inlays, custom designed and milled moldings, window and door trims, handcrafted marble gas fireplaces, solid 2 1/4 inches thick wood doors, a rebuilt hand-brushed staircase, a turfstone garden, a private driveway, high-tech mechanical systems and a complete restoration of the facade, cornice and the surrounding original wrought iron fence. On a beautiful corner lot stands the impressive, towering facade. Round the corner, go up the grand staircase and enter the solid Mahogany door, designed in the original Neo Grec style. Through the vestibule and into the elegant foyer, you will find a modern rendition of the original staircase, completely rebuilt and hand brushed in black lacquer.

On the parlor level is an open kitchen and dining area which is flooded with natural light through corner windows. A marble gas fireplace creates the perfect ambience on a chilly morning or for an intimate dinner party. The chef’s kitchen has been hand-crafted with the highest quality fumed white oak cabinetry and statuary marble countertops. Paneled Thermador appliances seamlessly meld into the thoughtful design as well as an elegantly tucked away wine fridge. Off the kitchen, step down into your a private turf stone garden, ideal for outdoor dining.

The formal living room sits on the opposite end of the parlor floor. With nearly 11 foot ceilings and a charming bay window, this is the perfect retreat to entertain your guests and showcase your art. Bedford Stuyvesant | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

Known for its historic brownstones and tight-knit enclave, Bed-Stuy has increasingly left behind its early reputation for being a “bedroom community” and transcended into a highly desirable neighborhood.

Distinct for its aesthetic, it is populated with ornate buildings characterized by cornices, friezes, finials, fluting and other marks of classic architecture. Built up during the period from 1870 to 1900, its historic district runs to the north of Jefferson Avenue, to the east of Malcolm X Boulevard and to the west of Tompkins Avenue.

At one point known as “Brooklyn’s Little Harlem,” the shape of the area has shifted toward attracting a wider demographic of people thanks to the influx of bars, restaurants, antique furniture stores and vintage boutiques. More police enforcement paired with the decline of the crack epidemic at the beginning of the 2000s also opened the door for increased development, as well as the occupation of formerly abandoned buildings and spaces.
