Property Description for 290 Harman Street, 3-FLR

This Three Bedroom is quite unusual. It's perfect for three friends that are cool with a your roommate coming through your room to use the bathroom. The rooms receive great natural light. The apartment has ton of kitchen cabinets with exposed brick to jazz up the cool. For your comfort, windows were also updated, and baths are modern - one with a tub. Kitchen was also renovated, with upgraded cabinets and stainless steel appliances. Lots of space to spread your wings here! Cherry toned hardwood floors in the heart of Bushwick. 5 blocks to the Knickerbocker M train, 6 blocks to the Myrtle/Wyckoff L train, and steps to shopping, cafes and bars. The building is centrally located between the L and M trains, and is just steps from shopping. Building is just off Knickerbocker for access to everything in this prime Bushwick area. Building also features a COURTYARD for the summer BBQ! This hard-working, unfiltered neighborhood tells the New York story though rich immigrant history, art, and bodgeas. All kinds of creative types have been filing into Bushwick and a considerable amount of trendiness is trickling in from its ultra-hip neighbor to the west, Williamsburg. New dive bars, bodegas, and gallery spaces continue to flourish, fueled by the intrepid movers and shakers that are pouring into Bushwick's converted loft spaces. Although Bushwick is busy reinventing itself, a somewhat grungy heart still beats beneath its remodeled exterior.

Bushwick | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

As one of the most diverse neighborhoods in New York, Bushwick offers a perfect snapshot of just how multicultural the city is. Long-established as an amalgam of cultures and ethnicities, a wave of varying types of immigrants trickled in from the seventeenth to twentieth centuries, with Bushwick largely becoming a home to Hispanics of Puerto Rican and Dominican backgrounds by the latter part of the twentieth century.

With the Bushwick Initiative of the mid-00s that aided in revitalization, it became an attractive area to young professionals and artists. And even now, Bushwick has sustained affordable rent prices where other North Brooklyn counterparts, like Williamsburg and Greenpoint, have become more expensive. Priding itself on the weird and the wacky, numerous art collectives thrive in this part of Brooklyn, once famously named the seventh coolest neighborhood in the world by Vogue.

Though it has drawn in many tourists in recent years (there’s even a graffiti tour you can take from the Bushwick Collective), the neighborhood remains very much community-oriented, and has not been subject to quite the same sort of corporate infiltration phenomenon of its nearby Williamsburg environs.

But yes, of course, Bushwick has come a very long way from its 80s and 90s reputation as being “The Well,” a nickname given to it for its free-flowing and widely available amount of drugs (quantity over quality being the cliche applied here).
