Property Description for 10 Mitchell Place, 4-F

Enjoy a wood burning fire in this quiet, northern facing, apartment overlooking the back of the brownstones on 50th Street. A separate sleep area has been built with plenty of room for a queen bed and a dresser, complete with an overhead light/ceiling fan, a nice sized closet and an ensuite, windowed bath. With 9-ft beamed ceilings and hardwood floors throughout, this apartment has under $1,000 a month maintenance and is priced too sell. The recently renovated windowed kitchen has plenty of storage with black granite counter tops, white cabinetry, a small Viking fridge, a two burner stove and a small Panasonic convection oven/microwave. (Rumor has it that a Thanksgiving turkey was cooked to perfection in this oven.)

10 Mitchell Place built in 1928 is a hidden gem of a location, just steps off of 49th Street, between Beekman Place and First Avenue, conveniently accessible to up, down and cross-town public transportation. The lobby has an old world feeling with leather arm chairs and mahogany wood paneling. There’s a beautiful, landscaped roof garden with panoramic views of the UN, the Empire State and Chrysler buildings, as well as East River views of the Queensboro and Williamsburg Bridges. The roof garden can be reserved for your private parties or to just have friends over to be mesmerized by the city's lights.

Amenities include a 24-hour doorman, a live-in super, daily mail delivery to your door, bike storage, laundry and storage bins upon availability. The 2% flip tax is split between the buyer and the seller. Pieds-a-terre are considered by the Board on a case-by-case basis and pets are welcomed.

Beekman Place | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Beekman Place is less of a neighborhood than it is a quiet two-block enclave just north of the United Nations on the far eastern edge of Turtle Bay. There is only one street that runs through the neighborhood, also called Beekman Place, that wraps itself around 49th Street and 51st Street.

This bucolic little stretch of the east side has always been a cherished spot for those fortunate enough to have found refuge here. The noise and the street traffic from the city surrounds is virtually non-existent as there are no through streets in this neighborhood.

The neighborhood composition largely consists of a few clusters of townhouses and prewar co-ops. The exception to the rule is the charming art-deco-styled Beekman Place Hotel at the corner of First Avenue and 49th Street and the two post-war towers, 860 and 870 UN Plaza that front the grounds of the United Nations.
