Property Description for 136 East 56th Street, 4-EF

Conveniently located to all that is trending along ‘billionaires row’, aka the 57th street corridor: fabulous shopping, 4-star restaurants and a transportation hub to all major subway lines. Artfully designed 2-bedroom home blends comfort with grandness. Sweeping double length living room encompasses a foyer entrance with three closets, adjacent ‘bar’ for entertaining and dining bay. Open exposures east & north provide streaming sunlight and cityscape views. The dining bay can be converted to a third bedroom if needed. The windows are outfitted with plantation-style wooden blinds, and wall-to-wall custom cabinetry below in wood-toned formica. The pass-thru windowed kitchen has been stylishly renovated with hand-painted tiles serving as the backsplash and off-set with an abundance of custom cabinets trimmed in white, french blue and yellow, speckled white Corian counters and ceramic tile flooring. Plus, top of the line appliances: Sub-zero and Boshe dishwasher. Two graciously sized master bedrooms with closets galore! One ensuite with a spa-like bathroom outfitted in neutral marble tones, mirrored walls and a deep soaking tub. Plus, for your added convenience, a washer/dryer hook-up is in place in the linen closet. The second bedroom is currently used as a guest bedroom/home office with wood-toned custom formica cabinetry and a walk-in closet. Adjacent bathroom with glass shower stall, custom mirrored vanity and floating sink. One-Thirty-Six East 56th Street has been going through a renaissance of its own! The boutique coop boasts a new limestone facade, custom lighting sconces and illuminated glass canopy to lend a touch of elegance! A full-service building providing doorman and concierge services, garage access thru the basement, live-in super, bike & caged storage (waiting list). Pets are welcome! Pied-a-terre's, co-purchasing and guarantors are considered. Subletting is allowed after 2-years of ownership. Flip tax 2.25%

Midtown East | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Midtown West and Midtown East have a lot in common. They’re bustling, iconic, and full of people. But just like siblings, their personalities can be vastly different. Midtown East is a bit more sophisticated and doesn’t quite have the vivacity and unruliness that its westerly counterpart exudes.

Midtown East is bordered by 42nd to the south, 59th Street to the north, 5th Avenue to the west, and 3rd Avenue to the east.

The neighborhood is famous for its high-end stores, tourist attractions, posh hotels (budget ones too), and iconic architecture. Midtown East is also one of the largest financial and business hubs in Manhattan. During normal business hours the sidewalks are full of commuters and people moving from point A to point B. In the early evening, when the masses have left for the day, things suddenly get a little quieter and the sidewalks have a lot less foot traffic.

Although largely a commercial neighborhood, residential areas of Midtown East do exist on the eastern section of the neighborhood.

Grand Central Station is located in Midtown East and like Midtown West, it’s an extremely commutable neighborhood. The 4, 5, 6, 7 and S trains whisk people in and out of the neighborhood 24 hours a day. Grand Central Station also serves as a hub for New York State and Connecticut commuter rails. These trains can take you anywhere along the Hudson River or up into Connecticut. It’s perfect for day tripping.
