Property Description for 10 Mitchell Place, 8-C

Mitchell Place is a little unknown street, perched just steps off 49th Street and sandwiched between First Avenue and Beekman Place. Originally built as a two-bedroom, the current owners skillfully redesigned this apartment into the perfect one bedroom. This bright, northern facing home has open exposures and overlooks the townhouses on 50th St. There’s a large bedroom, an ensuite double-windowed bathroom with double vanities and a large rain and hand shower. There is one of the largest closets you’ll ever find in a one bedroom apartment, measuring over 20-feet in length. The kitchen has Siematic stainless steel cabinets, all Miele appliances including a dishwasher, vented cooktop, oven, speedoven/microwave and a Sub-Zero refrigerator. The living room, complete with a beautiful fireplace can be completely closed off from the kitchen behind gorgeous mirrored sliding doors with televisions built-in on both sides (if desired, the tvs will be left for the new owners). Every inch of this entire apartment was gutted, from the walls to the floors, every inch of this apartment was reimagined for modern living. No expense was spared in this immaculate renovation. There are all new turn and tilt windows, moldings, trim and baseboards were added, thru-the-wall air conditioning units were installed and a complete AV system with in-the-wall speakers. Built in 1928, 10 Mitchell Place has 85 apartments, a beautiful lobby, a newly renovated, landscaped roof deck with panoramic city view overlooking many city landmarks; the UN and Chrysler Buildings, the Queensboro and Williamsburg Bridges, and the East River. The roof garden can be reserved for a private event or just to have friends over to be mesmerized by the city’s lights.

Beekman Place | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Beekman Place is less of a neighborhood than it is a quiet two-block enclave just north of the United Nations on the far eastern edge of Turtle Bay. There is only one street that runs through the neighborhood, also called Beekman Place, that wraps itself around 49th Street and 51st Street.

This bucolic little stretch of the east side has always been a cherished spot for those fortunate enough to have found refuge here. The noise and the street traffic from the city surrounds is virtually non-existent as there are no through streets in this neighborhood.

The neighborhood composition largely consists of a few clusters of townhouses and prewar co-ops. The exception to the rule is the charming art-deco-styled Beekman Place Hotel at the corner of First Avenue and 49th Street and the two post-war towers, 860 and 870 UN Plaza that front the grounds of the United Nations.
