Property Description for 137 Duane Street, 3-A

Is there any greater New York luxury than space? This expansive 5,498sf loft with 75 feet of frontage has recently completed a no-expense-spared renovation to the most exacting standards. Located on a prime Tribeca block, this majestic home is of a scale and caliber that sets an entirely new standard for loft living. Nothing beats that experience of opening the door to paradise after emerging from the alluring urban streets of Tribeca.

A large entry gallery leads to the massive 64ft long great room, perfect for entertaining on a lavish scale. Warm northern light floods this extraordinary residence through 8 sets of over-sized cathedral windows that accentuate the 14ft ceiling heights and 10" wide 3/4" thick Ash Heirloom Engineered wood floors by Carlisle Flooring. This room with its magnificent cast iron columns focuses onto a grand 20 ft gas fireplace, faced with book-matched marble slabs of an epic scale. The enormous open kitchen by Minotti Cucine is both seamless and sculptural equipped with Gaggenau, Sub Zero and Miele appliances.

The master bedroom suite is a symphony of rich textures and boasts equally large windows with custom window treatments. The apartment-sized walk-in closet is a Couturier's fantasy - possibly the most beautifully executed anywhere - with extensive custom millwork and detailing, including an intimate dressing area. The en suite bathroom features a deep freestanding Barcelona Volcanic limestone soaking tub and is lined floor-to-ceiling in polished marble. There are two additional bedroom suites, both equally impressive in both their quality and detailing. One guest bedroom is lined with Loro Piana cashmere.

An intimate library and media room features a built in wet bar and an Epson projector and 100" projection screen, the perfectly setting for a more intimate gathering. The level of hardware, door quality, millwork and detailing is truly unparalleled. Located in the heart of Tribeca, moments from neighborhood institutions such as The Odeon, this home is centered close to all restaurants, retail, transportation and entertainment, a few moments from the Hudson River Park as well as the spectacular Oculus. The classic pre-war Tribeca condominium building offers two entrances, one on Duane and the other on Thomas, with very low monthly carrying charges and taxes.

Quick Profile

TriBeCa, named after the small geographic triangle below Canal Street. It’s not really a triangle, it's a quadrilateral and it's bounded by West Street, Broadway, and Chambers Street. It’s a little too late for a name change and besides, QuaBeCa doesn't sound half as cool as Tribeca.

One of New York City’s more notable acronymed neighborhoods, TriBeCa is known for its trendy boutiques, fabolous restaurants, historical landmarks, and resident celebrity lofts. It still holds the title of one of the coolest places to live in New York City.

TriBeCa is one of the first residential neighborhoods of New York City. Way back in 1700’s wealthy New Yorkers built homes and maintained gardens in what is now TriBeca.

Later in history it shifted from residential to warehouses, commerce and markets. After the Civil War, shipping hubs moved from the East River to the Hudson River and revitalized areas like the South Street Seaport and TriBeca. When shipping and commerce increased, the area soon became a favorite spot for wholesalers to store their goods in large industrial warehouses.

Just like its neighbor SoHo, TriBeCa boasts one of the world’s largest collections of wrought-iron facades and Neo-Grecian architecture.
