Property Description for 520 West 19th Street, 2-C

In the heart of West Chelsea, with an ever evolving landscape of live, work and play, this 2,031 sqft 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom condo is the epitome of luxury. The wonderfully conceived layout feels like home. A split bedroom layout ensures privacy for the master suite, and also offers two sizable secondary bedrooms both with en suite baths. The solid wall of floor to ceiling (10 feet!) windows bathe the main living space and master suite in wonderful southern light, while the north-facing bedrooms have open views over art galleries, the High Line, and the Empire State Building. A total custom kitchen renovation has been completed in Summer 2017 which features brand new cabinetry and countertops, and top of the line appliances, including a full size wine refrigeration system. Features like the bleached wide plank oak floors and built-ins throughout contribute to the luminous effect. The outdoor terrace is ~500 sqft, beautifully landscaped, and runs the southern length of the apartment, with entrances from both the living room and master bedroom. Remarkably private, it is a perfect place for daytime lounging. In the evening the renowned IAC building provides the perfect glow for a cocktail party. There are closets galore, including a mudroom, two huge walk in closets AND the apartment transfers with two private storage units. If you know New York, you will recognize that this apartment is located at the epicenter of the current Manhattan scene. Surrounded by the High Line, Hudson River Park, Chelsea Market, and Chelsea Piers; along with art galleries, restaurants and boutiques too numerous to mention. The building, designed by Annabelle Selldorf, takes its rightful place with other innovative, high-end condominiums on what is known as Starchitect Alley.

Quick Profile

The row houses portray the world-class architecture of Greek Revival, Italianate and Georgian styles. The population is both ethnically and socially diverse, which is reflected in the restaurants and retail businesses in the neighborhood.

Western Chelsea is the center of the NYC art world, where you will find more than 200 art galleries housed in rehabbed factories and warehouses, as well as in newly-constructed buildings.

While people of many different cultures call Chelsea home, it has been a mecca over the years for people in the LGBTQ community. One census reported that as many as 22% of its residents were gay couples. Eighth Avenue is a trendy area for LGBTQ-oriented dining and shopping. Although it no longer draws the LGBTQ population that it once did, Chelsea still has many popular alternative bars.

Chelsea is primarily residential, consisting of a mixture of diverse complexes, low-rise apartment blocks, tenements, townhouses, renovated row houses, and luxury high-rises.

Chelsea is an interesting and sought-after place to live, with unique clothing boutiques, restaurants, and delis representing cultures from around the world. In addition to its quirky establishments, Chelsea has fine dining restaurants and a vibrant, hip nightlife, which adds to its allure.

Chelsea is well-served by public transportation. At least six city bus routes traverse Chelsea. There are three NYC subway routes with stops on Seventh Avenue, three on Eighth Avenue, and two more on Sixth Avenue. The 34th Street - Hudson Yards Station opened in 2015 with its main entrance in Chelsea.
