Property Description for 508 West 24th Street, 2-S

A rare find, this beautiful and fully-furnished 2 bedroom, 2.5 bath home with a sprawling outdoor oasis is now offered for a short term 6-month rental. This sun-filled apartment features exquisitely designed modern interiors, with extraordinary vintage and designer furnishings, and a world-class art collection. Available for rent from March 1 through August 31, 2018, the lucky tenant will have the full advantage of the outdoor space during the prime spring and summer months.

A key-locked elevator opens into the gracious entry hall, with a seating area and ample storage. At the end of the hall is the spacious great room, featuring a wall of steel casement windows and doors that provide natural light all day and views out to the spectacularly landscaped terrace - which is also illuminated at night. With a perfect flow for entertaining, and a true feeling of indoor/outdoor living, the great room offers multiple seating areas. The apartment’s many beautiful finishes include wide-plank rift-sawn white oak floors, 10’ ceilings, and custom art-lighting system. The well-appointed open chef's kitchen has Calacatta Gold marble counters, custom walnut cabinetry, top of the line appliances, and bar seating for four. A butler's pantry off of the kitchen provides additional storage and prep space. The great room opens onto the enormous private garden, with a gas grill for outdoor entertaining.

The generously scaled master bedroom suite is outfitted with an enormous walk-in closet and a marble clad 5-fixture bath with soaking tub, steam shower and a double vanity. The master bedroom’s french doors also access the terrace. The second bedroom is outfitted as a great home office and guest suite, with its own large closet and en-suite bath. A charming powder room off the entry hall, and a back hall with a laundry area and storage room complete this home’s perfect layout.

Completed in 2014, 508 West 24th Street is a ten-story condominium built by architect/developer Cary Tamarkin. At the heart of the vibrant Chelsea Arts district and adjacent to the High Line, it was designed in the spirit of West Chelsea's industrial-era warehouses, featuring bands of steel casement windows that alternate with exposed cast concrete. Amenities include a full time doorman, fitness room, and a bike room. This prime Chelsea location next to the High Line is also in close proximity to Chelsea Piers, Hudson River Park, the Whitney Museum, and is surrounded by many of the world’s finest contemporary art galleries, as well as some of Manhattan’s best restaurants and shops.

Chelsea | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The row houses portray the world-class architecture of Greek Revival, Italianate and Georgian styles. The population is both ethnically and socially diverse, which is reflected in the restaurants and retail businesses in the neighborhood.

Western Chelsea is the center of the NYC art world, where you will find more than 200 art galleries housed in rehabbed factories and warehouses, as well as in newly-constructed buildings.

While people of many different cultures call Chelsea home, it has been a mecca over the years for people in the LGBTQ community. One census reported that as many as 22% of its residents were gay couples. Eighth Avenue is a trendy area for LGBTQ-oriented dining and shopping. Although it no longer draws the LGBTQ population that it once did, Chelsea still has many popular alternative bars.

Chelsea is primarily residential, consisting of a mixture of diverse complexes, low-rise apartment blocks, tenements, townhouses, renovated row houses, and luxury high-rises.

Chelsea is an interesting and sought-after place to live, with unique clothing boutiques, restaurants, and delis representing cultures from around the world. In addition to its quirky establishments, Chelsea has fine dining restaurants and a vibrant, hip nightlife, which adds to its allure.

Chelsea is well-served by public transportation. At least six city bus routes traverse Chelsea. There are three NYC subway routes with stops on Seventh Avenue, three on Eighth Avenue, and two more on Sixth Avenue. The 34th Street - Hudson Yards Station opened in 2015 with its main entrance in Chelsea.
