Property Description for 57 Front Street, 701/705

Authentic DUMBO Loft with Spectacular Private Outdoor Space Rarely does an apartment like this come along! This 1930 SF loft with an additional 500 SF of private outdoor space is one of a kind. This unique loft space is currently set up as a two bedroom, three bath apartment; but it can easily convert to a three or even four bedroom apartment. Enter into the oversized, south facing great room with ample space for your dining area, and be struck by the terrific light and open floor plan. Adjacent is the open chef's kitchen which features Sub-Zero and Bosch appliances, great storage, counter space, and soapstone countertops. A dramatic staircase leads to your huge 500 SF rooftop deck with views of the Brooklyn Bridge-- perfect for enjoyment all year long! There is a generously-sized bedroom and adjoining bath in the front of the loft. Each of the three oversized bathrooms feature tubs and stone finishes throughout. A bedroom/den with full bath off the great room functions well as a den, home office or playroom; and leads to the master suite. The enormous, pin-drop quiet master suite features another full bath, and benefits from seven large windows providing northern, and eastern light. The master suite is currently configured as a sleeping and seating area and it could easily be converted to two sizable bedrooms (see alternate floor plan). Situated in the heart DUMBO, River Front Condominium is a boutique loft building with part-time doorman, fitness room, bike room, and central laundry room. It is located around the corner from Brooklyn Bridge Park, abundant transportation (ferry to Wall Street and the F/A/C/2/3 trains one subway stop to Manhattan), many great restaurants, and all the amenities that DUMBO and Brooklyn Heights have to offer. With low common charges and a J-51 tax abatement until 2022, this apartment is a dream! Two massive storage bins in the basement also convey with the unit.

Dumbo | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

DUMBO, which is an acronym for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass, used to be a lively industrial and manufacturing zone, full of large factories and warehouses. These buildings have now been converted into expansive lofts, theaters, galleries, and office spaces for start-up companies. These larger residential spaces are attractive to families and creative artists and writers who need space to dream and create.

DUMBO was named in 1978 as a sort of reverse marketing ploy to try to keep people from swarming into the area, attracted by the quaint tree-lined streets, elegant historic brownstones, large lofts, and views of Lower Manhattan. It was felt that this influx of people would change the nature of the neighborhood. It was hoped that by giving the area a ridiculous name, nobody would want to live there.

Many of the neighborhood’s bars, hotels, and restaurants capitalize on the stunning waterfront views and the Manhattan skyline in the background. Interesting and fun cultural events are held under and around the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges that connect DUMBO to Manhattan. One of these is the annual Oktoberfest.

With beautiful vignettes of the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges being framed around every corner, DUMBO provides residents and tourists with charming, and often surprising, views. Because the neighborhood is eminently walkable and filled with unique shops, it feels like a small town on the edge of a major urban waterfront. Once people move to DUMBO, they tend to stay and become involved in the community.
