Property Description for 130 West 12th Street, 5-B

A spacious retreat nestled within the cozy quarters of one of Manhattan's most distinguished neighborhoods, this 3 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom apartment with pre-war details and modern amenities spreads comfortably across nearly 2,000 square feet in an award-winning building for sustainable design.

With northern, eastern, and southern exposures, natural rays of light pour in through large, custom windows designed in an Art Deco motif. A rich sea of dark hardwood tempers the space, anchoring it with sylvan charm. From the open living/dining room, a chevron-patterned floor flows into the home's expertly-finished kitchen. The kitchen is furnished with clean white countertops, a luxurious 6-burner stainless steel stove, a massive pantry-sized 2-door refrigerator, a durable stainless steel farmhouse sink, and ample storage space. At its center sits a large, eat-in island that contains a built-in microwave and wine fridge. Sleek, clean, and equipped with modern comforts, this kitchen will pay dividends whether it's being used to prepare a special recipe for a romantic pair, a modest meal for a young family, or a dining event for a healthy party of friends.

The master bedroom features a walk-in closet and a well-lit ensuite bathroom with dual sinks set within a marble countertop and fresh, subway-tiled walls. The second bedroom is adjacent to a separate full bath-complete with modern finishes-as well as a laundry area with space for a washer/dryer and a detached linen closet. Bedroom three-already generously-sized-benefits from having additional space that used to be occupied by a large walk-in closet.

The building, a thoroughly renovated pre-war construction, is a thoughtful testament to green development. The design of all of its residential interiors was led by sustainable design specialists Cook + Fox Architects while internationally known interior design firm Jed Johnson Associates handled One Thirty West 12's lobby and corridors. Their attentive renovations did not go unnoticed. The building won the 2012 Sustainable Design Award by Global Green USA and was granted LEED-NC Gold Certification from the US Green Building Council (USCBC). Amenities include a doorman, live-in super, elevator, windowed gym, private storage lockers, and a roof deck with views to the river.

Only steps from the kaleidoscopic swarm of sophisticated restaurants, bars, shops, and markets that populate Greenwich Village and just around the corner from the 1, 2, 3 subway lines, this gem of an apartment is well-suited for families and entertainers alike.

Greenwich Village | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Birthplace of beatniks, Greenwich Village has always been a neighborhood bursting with creativity, home to artists, poets, musicians and writers. There is a lot of foot traffic in the neighborhood, as it gives convenient access to many other neighborhoods. There are a lot of popular eateries on MacDougal Street and bars on Bleecker Street. The neighborhood has a bit of a college-town feel, due to the presence of NYU. There aren’t large chain stores here, so it isn’t really a mecca for shopaholics, but you can find interesting vintage stores and specialty boutiques.

Available housing is centered on pre-war walk-ups. You can find good deals on the quieter, tree-lined side streets, as opposed to the bustling avenues. There are pockets of brownstones and townhouses, some dating back to the early 19th century, throughout the neighborhood, as well. You will find more luxurious housing in the newer high-rise buildings on Park and Fifth Avenues.

Washington Square Park is the heart of the neighborhood. If you sit near the Arch and close your eyes, you might catch an echo of the music and social history of the Park, floating through the air. Greats like Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, and Paul Simon started their storied careers right here in Greenwich Village. Today, the Village is a celebration of diversity, where everyone is welcome.
