Property Description for 405 West 23rd Street, 7-K

Rarely on the Market – London Terrace Towers Corner K Unit

Welcome to your new home in Chelsea’s historic cooperative residence London Terrace Towers! Enter the recently renovated lobby and you will immediately be immersed in the careful blend of prewar elegance and contemporary styling that characterize the building. Head up to the 7th floor, enjoy the walk past the retro-styled hallway along the way, you will arrive at the apartment, the K unit, positioned in the southwest corner of the building. The first impression as you enter the doorway is the abundance of southern light that permeates the entire room and the original wooden flooring that was resanded and polished in a dark mahogany finish. The home was smartly and elegantly renovated to modernize and upgrade the appearance while historical details were preserved to maximize the feel of prewar space, comfort and warmth. To the left of the doorway is the large closet / changing area with custom-built wooden cabinets and drawers in a natural dark wood finish that provide ample storage space. The closet space leads to the bathroom, which was completely remodeled including new tiles, paint, ceiling work, and complemented with sconces, medicine cabinet, fittings, shower system from Renovation Hardware, and a top-mounted sink over a marble-topped wooden cabinet. The original black-and-white tiled floor and rare deep bathtub were kept to retain historical accents, while another custom-built cabinet behind the door provides storage for additional items. Step into the airy and bright living room area and notice the modern remote controlled combination ceiling fan / light, large unobstructed windows that look out onto the tree-lined street, and the upgraded wall-mounted air conditioner that completes the environment. The windowed kitchen is fully-equipped with a dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator, plenty of storage cabinets, and highlighted by a top-of-the-line Viking cooking range for all your culinary creations. Finally, the fully renovated bedroom alcove provides a private sleeping area with custom built French-styled doors and updated lighting fixture. Again, welcome home!

This apartment is being offered to buyers directly by the owner. We are open to working with buyer's brokers.

The $1,330 maintenance fee includes taxes and ALL utilities. There is also a 1/2 olympic sized pool with steamroom/sauna and a recently updated full gym in the adjacent sister building for residents of London Terrace to use for a membership fee.

We will be holding an Open House this Saturday, May 16th from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM. Private viewings are also available by appointment only.

Chelsea | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The row houses portray the world-class architecture of Greek Revival, Italianate and Georgian styles. The population is both ethnically and socially diverse, which is reflected in the restaurants and retail businesses in the neighborhood.

Western Chelsea is the center of the NYC art world, where you will find more than 200 art galleries housed in rehabbed factories and warehouses, as well as in newly-constructed buildings.

While people of many different cultures call Chelsea home, it has been a mecca over the years for people in the LGBTQ community. One census reported that as many as 22% of its residents were gay couples. Eighth Avenue is a trendy area for LGBTQ-oriented dining and shopping. Although it no longer draws the LGBTQ population that it once did, Chelsea still has many popular alternative bars.

Chelsea is primarily residential, consisting of a mixture of diverse complexes, low-rise apartment blocks, tenements, townhouses, renovated row houses, and luxury high-rises.

Chelsea is an interesting and sought-after place to live, with unique clothing boutiques, restaurants, and delis representing cultures from around the world. In addition to its quirky establishments, Chelsea has fine dining restaurants and a vibrant, hip nightlife, which adds to its allure.

Chelsea is well-served by public transportation. At least six city bus routes traverse Chelsea. There are three NYC subway routes with stops on Seventh Avenue, three on Eighth Avenue, and two more on Sixth Avenue. The 34th Street - Hudson Yards Station opened in 2015 with its main entrance in Chelsea.
