Property Description for 111 Monroe Street, 4-A

This south facing apartment is a thoughtfully laid out large 750 sq ft. The spacious open kitchen is both stylish and highly functional with a striking combination of white Corian counter-tops, walnut cabinetry and a stainless steel appliance suite. Ample customized storage throughout and a large utility room, thoughtfully outfitted with additional pantry space (plus room for two bike racks) complete the package.

The kitchen opens into a large living room with plenty of space for relaxing or entertaining. The 10 ft ceiling height and large floor to ceiling windows lead to a sweet Juliet balcony where sun spills into the apartment all day long.

The bedroom is also south facing and sunny. More spacious than most modern 1BRs in the neighborhood - there is enough space for a king size bed as well as additional furniture.

The bathroom has floor to ceiling tiles with walnut accents and a fantastic vanity mirror combo!

Closets and storage spaces throughout the entire apartment have been customized for easy organizing and to maximize the space.

Better yet... there is a 25 year TAXABATEMENT in place - making these monthlies lower than many of the smaller apartments in this price range.

The building is extremely well maintained - with handsome lobby and elevator, as well as a gym (which is included in the common charges). There are also storage rooms and garage on site, often available by second purchase or leased out by individual condo owners.

The location can't be beat! This Bed Stuy beauty borders Clinton Hill and Prospect Heights. Quick access to the C train at Franklin Ave, the A Train at Nostrand, the G and the Franklin Avenue Shuttle (S Train) connecting you quickly wherever you want to go. Fantastic grocery shopping literally at your doorstep - a local favorite offering a variety of organic produce, meats and sundry items.

Here, you can really have it all. Breeze past some of the most beautiful centuries old Brownstones and Victorian masterpieces on some of the prettiest tree-lined streets in Brooklyn on the way home to your modern abode. You're going to love living at 111 Monroe Street - sunrise or sunset - the light is always special here and the neighborhood is as authentic and eclectic the people who call it home.

Quick Profile

Known for its historic brownstones and tight-knit enclave, Bed-Stuy has increasingly left behind its early reputation for being a “bedroom community” and transcended into a highly desirable neighborhood.

Distinct for its aesthetic, it is populated with ornate buildings characterized by cornices, friezes, finials, fluting and other marks of classic architecture. Built up during the period from 1870 to 1900, its historic district runs to the north of Jefferson Avenue, to the east of Malcolm X Boulevard and to the west of Tompkins Avenue.

At one point known as “Brooklyn’s Little Harlem,” the shape of the area has shifted toward attracting a wider demographic of people thanks to the influx of bars, restaurants, antique furniture stores and vintage boutiques. More police enforcement paired with the decline of the crack epidemic at the beginning of the 2000s also opened the door for increased development, as well as the occupation of formerly abandoned buildings and spaces.
