Property Description for 130 West 12th Street, 7-C

A sophisticated fusion of pre-war details and modern amenities, this beautifully proportioned 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment possesses idyllic city views of townhouse gardens and village rooftops in a building heralded for green design.

From the foyer, a separate dining area flows into a gorgeous step-down living room, allowing the rooms to flex as a large entertaining space while keeping them distinct for cozy occasions that call for it. The kitchen, bestowed with a pair of eastern-facing windows, is expertly finished with clean crystalline countertops, a marble tile backsplash, polished nickel hardware by Nanz, a sleek, stainless steel farmhouse sink, and a suite of high-end appliances from brands like Bosch, Sub-Zero, and Viking. A horde of white lacquer cabinets provide plenty of storage space.

Winged for privacy, both bedrooms benefit from an abundance of natural light. The Master Bedroom—conveniently across the hall from the washer/dryer unit and linen closet—features an over-sized walk-in closet and an elegant, windowed ensuite bathroom with a large white marble double sink vanity, subway-tiled walls, and custom basket-weave floor tiles. The second bedroom, illuminated by southern and eastern exposure, has a generously-sized reach-in closet and is adjacent to the apartment’s second full bathroom.

The building is a thoroughly renovated pre-war construction whose residential interiors were designed by sustainable design specialists Cook + Fox Architects. Their thoughtful touches—very apparent in 7C—include chevron-patterned hardwood floors, solid-core custom paneled doors, elegant coved ceiling detail, and thermal casement windows. One Thirty West 12’s lobby and corridors were handled by internationally known interior design firm Jed Johnson Associates. The building won the 2012 Sustainable Design Award by Global Green USA and was granted LEED-NC Gold Certification from the US Green Building Council (USCBC). Amenities include a doorman, live-in super, elevator, windowed gym, private storage lockers, and a roof deck with views stretching all the way to the river.

Only steps from the throng of chic restaurants, bars, shops, and markets that populate Greenwich Village and just around the corner from the 1, 2, 3 subway lines, this winsome apartment is ideal for families and entertainers alike.

Greenwich Village | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Birthplace of beatniks, Greenwich Village has always been a neighborhood bursting with creativity, home to artists, poets, musicians and writers. There is a lot of foot traffic in the neighborhood, as it gives convenient access to many other neighborhoods. There are a lot of popular eateries on MacDougal Street and bars on Bleecker Street. The neighborhood has a bit of a college-town feel, due to the presence of NYU. There aren’t large chain stores here, so it isn’t really a mecca for shopaholics, but you can find interesting vintage stores and specialty boutiques.

Available housing is centered on pre-war walk-ups. You can find good deals on the quieter, tree-lined side streets, as opposed to the bustling avenues. There are pockets of brownstones and townhouses, some dating back to the early 19th century, throughout the neighborhood, as well. You will find more luxurious housing in the newer high-rise buildings on Park and Fifth Avenues.

Washington Square Park is the heart of the neighborhood. If you sit near the Arch and close your eyes, you might catch an echo of the music and social history of the Park, floating through the air. Greats like Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, and Paul Simon started their storied careers right here in Greenwich Village. Today, the Village is a celebration of diversity, where everyone is welcome.
