Property Description for 10 Mitchell Place, 6-A

Bring your vision and imagination...Located on a hidden gem of a street, this pre-war, one bedroom apartment is situated just steps off of 49th Street, between Beekman Place and First Avenue, on a quaint and often unfrequented street known as Mitchell Place. With a separate entrance foyer, beamed ceilings, an abundance of closet space, and a wood-burning fire place, this corner apartment has great bones and tons of character but does need a bit of renovating. In the living room you will find four windows bringing you both south and west exposures, and both the bathroom and kitchen area are also windowed, giving this apartment a plethora of natural sunlight. Originally designed as a Pullman kitchen, the new owner will most likely choose to update the current kitchen area to their taste. Most importantly, there is a beautiful view of the Chrysler Building, and if you look out the window to the left, you can also get a glimpse of the East River. This apartment is the perfect place to come home to after a long day at work - just relax in front of a fire and become mesmerized by the sparkling midtown lights.

Keeping in line with the charm of the building, the lobby has an old world feel to it, with mahogany wood paneled walls and leather chairs. As the weather warms up, take advantage of the beautiful landscaped roof deck with panoramic views of the city, including views of the Chrysler building, the Queensboro Bridge, the Williamsburg Bridge, and of course a gorgeous view of the river and city all around you. You'll be happy to note that the roof deck can also be reserved for private parties. Other amenities include a full-time doorman, a live-in super, daily mail delivery, a bike room and a laundry room with free dryers. A 2% flip tax is paid by the seller and pied-a-terres and pets are permitted with a Board approval.

This apartment is a blank canvas, awaiting your vision and personal touch!

Beekman Place | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Beekman Place is less of a neighborhood than it is a quiet two-block enclave just north of the United Nations on the far eastern edge of Turtle Bay. There is only one street that runs through the neighborhood, also called Beekman Place, that wraps itself around 49th Street and 51st Street.

This bucolic little stretch of the east side has always been a cherished spot for those fortunate enough to have found refuge here. The noise and the street traffic from the city surrounds is virtually non-existent as there are no through streets in this neighborhood.

The neighborhood composition largely consists of a few clusters of townhouses and prewar co-ops. The exception to the rule is the charming art-deco-styled Beekman Place Hotel at the corner of First Avenue and 49th Street and the two post-war towers, 860 and 870 UN Plaza that front the grounds of the United Nations.
