Property Description for 115 South Street, 2-F

Located in the Historic South Street Seaport, on what was once famed as the “Street of Ships”, unit 2F is the loft you’ve been hoping would become available! This rare one bedroom home stretches to approximately 855 sq ft. Extra high ceilings of over 9 feet add to the open feel.

Natural light from four oversized windows with southeastern exposure illuminates the home and offers views of the East River and Brooklyn Bridge. Custom window treatments have been installed.

When you enter the residence, you are greeted by a host of original details dating back to the building’s construction in 1840! Original wood floors and a gorgeous structural wood beam and column create a warm atmosphere. The long whitewashed brick wall is accented by a fireplace with a simple wood mantle and, most notably, a stunning hand painted safe that can be transformed into a bookcase, bar, or other decorative display feature.

The massive living and dining room spans over 23 feet in width, and currently contains a large lounge area, office corner, entry furniture, and a 6 person dining table.

The fully renovated kitchen is a dream for those who love to cook! Beautiful marble countertops offer plenty of working space, white cabinetry blends in seamlessly and provides ample storage, and it is complete with a suite of appliances by Bosch and LG.

Adjacent to the kitchen is an enormous marble bathroom which includes a pedestal sink, medicine cabinet with storage, and room for an additional storage piece. An efficient washer/dryer unit by LG is hidden away behind the door and overhead shelving creates extra space.

Upgraded lighting fixtures complimenting the historic details have been installed, and these operate on dimmers to maximize light or create the ambiance you wish to accomplish. Completing the home is a gracious walk in closet large enough to share!

The South Street Seaport is the new downtown destination! Enjoy dinner and a movie at the iPic dine-in theater, grab a pint at The Paris Cafe´ (a local favorite since 1873!), or stroll the cobbled streets to visit one of the many local eateries and boutiques. We are conveniently located near all major transit lines, PATH train, and the NY Water Taxi. The nearby Pier 17, with restaurants by Jean Georges and Momofuku Group, as well as a new shopping mall and outdoor event space, is set to open Summer 2018!

Seaport District | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The Seaport District sits between the Financial District to the south and the Brooklyn Bridge to the north. The original Seaport designation was limited to the streets east of Water Street from Fletcher Street to Dover Street and incorporated the actual Seaport and the piers. But no more. Today, the neighborhood boundaries have expanded westward toward Park Row and include a surge of new developments in the area around Pace University and City Hall Park.

This is not your father’s Seaport. It is no longer a commercial hub and the seafood industry, which operated out of the port for nearly two hundred years, has been displaced. The older low-rise buildings that line these cobblestoned streets have been repositioned, the SouthBridge towers complex to the east of Water Street has gone free market, multiple commercial buildings have been converted to residential usage and new gleaming residential towers are rising on the site of the iconic J&R Music World which once lined the east side of Park Row.

Still, the Seaport is a small neighborhood, particularly quaint just north of Beekman Street. The streets are dominated by century-old warehouses and maritime buildings which gives the neighborhood its overt character. The Brooklyn Bridge, on its northern edge, looms in the backdrop.
