Property Description for 575 Riverside Drive, 51

Live your most creative lifestyle in this artistically inspired home, which preserves elements of classic prewar character with bold modern updates. The loft-like and flexible layout is currently configured to flow from a large open living and dining room past a guest room or home office, past a designer chefs kitchen, a beautifully updated windowed bath to a glorious master bedroom with river views. With windows in every room, the home is filled with natural light and feels breezy and open.

The living room features separate large seating and dining areas, with a terrific anchor wall for seating, corner windows and chandelier over the dining area. The 10 foot ceilings and ebonized floors enhance the chic downtown loft spirit.

This windowed kitchen will spark your inner chef and be the pulse of the home! Long and luxurious Caesarstone counter tops flow to a stainless steel under-mount sink with designer water fixtures providing instant filtered hot / cold water on tap. Stainless steel appliances accentuate an industrial feel, balanced with a softer modern residential setting. Create delicious dishes in style with a chefs command on the GE Pro gas range and oven. A spacious Bosch refrigerator offers filtered water and ice maker, while the stainless Bosch dishwasher makes cleanup easy in the kitchen work triangle. Open shelving and high ceilings add to this inspired beautiful work space.

The newly renovated windowed bathroom is sumptuous! Clean and elegant, the newly re-glazed bathtub and wall tiles with new porcelain floor tiles make this room light, bright and airy. Theres even a hot and cold luxury integrated bidet and toilet.

The over-sized master bedroom has tall windows on two sides and a view of the Hudson River. With very high ceilings and a wall of built-in closets, theres plenty of space to move around. This is not just a king-sized bedroom, its practically the size of an entire studio apartment!

The home comes with custom blinds, darkened wood floors throughout, and endless great vibes.

The building features a part-time doorman (1pm-10pm), live-in superintendent, an in-building fitness center for only $50 a year, coin/card washers and dryers, and additional storage space for rent. Bldg is cat friendly (case by case), sorry no dogs allowed. Located at 135th and Riverside, this elegant prewar building is only two blocks from the subway and around the corner from a major bus stop. There is even a parking garage a half block away. Fairway supermarket and many fun foodie eateries are all nearby.

Harlem | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The neighborhood called West Harlem by the locals is known as Manhattanville to neighborhood newcomers. The area is culturally diverse and might be considered a microcosm of the city as a whole.

Columbia University has recently expanded into the area, which is attracting student residents from all over the world. Together with students from the City College of New York and young professionals fleeing higher prices in other neighborhoods, this influx of younger residents has brought with it more restaurants and bars on W 125th Street to serve this clientele. There are also new ventures, like a rock-climbing gym, to cater to the interests of these students and young professionals. At the same time, there are many small, family-owned shops and restaurants that have been anchors of the neighborhood for multiple generations.

The area has been through a housing upgrade, as older properties have been renovated and abandoned properties have been razed to make room for new development. There are still reasonably priced apartments available. Young professionals are finding that there is a certain cachet to living in West Harlem. It provides a convenient commute to the city and all of its amenities, while providing a sense of escape at the end of a long work day.

While rentals are popular with the student population, the young professionals are delighted to find pre-war brownstones, pre-war co-ops (including some income-capped HDFCs for lower- and middle-income buyers), and post-war condos that they can afford, although prices are rising. Some new low-rise developments, sporting virtual doormen and desired amenities, are cropping up.
