Property Description for 455 East 51st Street, 1-B

In the heart of beautiful Beekman Place a magnificent and exclusive one bedroom apartment awaits you!
The unit’s living room and outdoor terrace face the East River, offering exceptional light, dramatic views and privacy.
The entire apartment has been extensively renovated by a renowned preservationist and art dealer to meticulous standards.
A beautiful new mantle for the working wood-burning fireplace, new HVAC units, one-way mirrored bedroom doors, arched doorways, new moldings and skim coated walls are some of the elements of this year-old renovation.
The Beekman Terrace is a six-story building designed by Trainor and Fatio in the 1920s, located at the very end of East 51st Street. There is easy access to a park, a dog run and to the river’s edge. The building’s common spaces include a roof deck, a large garden and a unique courtyard to walk through once entering through the attended main gate. There is no lobby.
Pied-à-terre’s are permitted, pets are welcomed, and a friendly and professional staff await to meet all your needs. Viewings are by appointment only.

Quick Profile

Beekman Place is less of a neighborhood than it is a quiet two-block enclave just north of the United Nations on the far eastern edge of Turtle Bay. There is only one street that runs through the neighborhood, also called Beekman Place, that wraps itself around 49th Street and 51st Street.

This bucolic little stretch of the east side has always been a cherished spot for those fortunate enough to have found refuge here. The noise and the street traffic from the city surrounds is virtually non-existent as there are no through streets in this neighborhood.

The neighborhood composition largely consists of a few clusters of townhouses and prewar co-ops. The exception to the rule is the charming art-deco-styled Beekman Place Hotel at the corner of First Avenue and 49th Street and the two post-war towers, 860 and 870 UN Plaza that front the grounds of the United Nations.
