Property Description for 303 East 57th Street, 22-HG

Welcome to this apartment home in the sky. This 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath, corner unit is approximately 2,300 square feet with 3 main exposures (N/E/S) and oversized windows to match. This apartment offers breathtaking views from its 22nd floor perch. The private balcony allows for views West, North, and East with glimpses of The Plaza Hotel, East River, and unobstructed views as far as the Whitestone Bridge. From up here, you will never feel confined.

This layout feels more like a home than a typical apartment with the bedroom wing separate from the entertaining/living areas. There is even a home office area to call your own.
Upon entering the unit you will be greeted with a gracious foyer that separated the 2 areas of the apartment. To the right opens up to an oversized hallway that is currently used as a play area that is large enough for even a jungle gym. This area leads to the home office, Master Suite, as well the remaining 2 bedrooms and Washer/Dryer.

Straight through the foyer will lead you past the half bath and lead you towards the renovated kitchen complete with Miele appliances. This galley kitchen allows for easy access to the Dining Room that can be separated from the living room with lovely privacy glass sliding doors. From the dining room there is a wonderful southern exposure and a view of the Chrysler Building.
And finally onto the extra large Living room area that easily allows for multiple furniture arrangements and groupings. There is also an alcove area that is perfect for a nice sitting lounge just off the main room.

The Excelsior features a doorman, concierge, gym/spa, swimming pool, roof deck, garage and live-in super. You and your guests have the convenience of a driveway bringing you right to the front of the building.

Sutton Place | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Sutton Place is usually described with favorable words like charming, cozy, great neighborhood, hidden gem, sanctuary, or even small village inside a big city. Those descriptions aren’t from real estate folks either, they’re from the people that live and work there, so it must be true.

The quiet and upscale neighborhood is more like an enclave. It’s bounded by East 53rd Street to the south, East 59th Street to the North, First Avenue to the west, and the East River to the east. Most residents will tell you that everything you’ll ever need is located in the neighborhood. When it’s time to venture out into the cityscape, Sutton Place is within easy reach to Midtown and cultural attractions like the Museum of Modern Art, Rockefeller Center, Central Park and other iconic sites.

Manhattan has always had notable celebrity residents. But for unknown reasons, Sutton Place has had more than its share of superstars over the years. Some of the more iconic celebs include: Marilyn Monroe and Arthur Miller, Freddie Mercury, Sigourney Weaver, Joan Crawford, Michael Jackson and sister Latoya (Just for one summer).

Sutton Place is named after Effingham B. Sutton, a shipping merchant and entrepreneur. After hitting it big in the California gold rush, Sutton built brownstones along East 57th and East 58th streets with aspirations of making the section more residential. Poverty and crime dashed his dreams. The street gangs that hung out along the dead-ends and cul-de-sacs added to the neighborhood’s decay. Sutton was about to give up on his development endeavors but the Vanderbilt’s and the Morgan’s showed up in the 1920s and transformed the neighborhood. It soon became a wealthy enclave.
