Property Description for 400 East 52nd Street, 11-ABK

A perfect opportunity to create a grand scale three or four bedroom apartment with an uncomplicated, well worthwhile effort. The current layout consists of two large studios flanking a spacious two-bedroom apartment with a step-down living room. With only minor reconfiguration, the combination would result in a wonderful, bright and rarely seen non-linear space. As is common with Southgate apartments, pre-war features abound: beautiful oak flooring, beamed ceilings, arched entryways, great closet space and well proportioned rooms. North, South and East exposures provide excellent light and air flow. Open North exposures over the quiet and private 52nd Street cul de sac. Attached floorplans provide suggestions to achieve your ideal home environment. Additional architectural floorplans have been prepared and are readily available. 50SF of hallway space may also be purchased from the Co-op and incorporated. Maintenance includes electricity. 431 shares. Under common ownership.

Beekman Place | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Beekman Place is less of a neighborhood than it is a quiet two-block enclave just north of the United Nations on the far eastern edge of Turtle Bay. There is only one street that runs through the neighborhood, also called Beekman Place, that wraps itself around 49th Street and 51st Street.

This bucolic little stretch of the east side has always been a cherished spot for those fortunate enough to have found refuge here. The noise and the street traffic from the city surrounds is virtually non-existent as there are no through streets in this neighborhood.

The neighborhood composition largely consists of a few clusters of townhouses and prewar co-ops. The exception to the rule is the charming art-deco-styled Beekman Place Hotel at the corner of First Avenue and 49th Street and the two post-war towers, 860 and 870 UN Plaza that front the grounds of the United Nations.
