Property Description for 545 West 20th Street, PH6/7B

Perched atop this historically significant loft building, the Lifesaver Lofts, in the heart of West Chelsea, nestled amongst the world's leading art galleries, alongside the landmark David Zwirner Gallery across from Chelsea Piers, this spectacular newly constructed 3-bedroom penthouse duplex reveals itself gradually once the private, key-locked elevator door opens. The entry gallery hallway leads to reveal the sensational living room with its extraordinary double height ceilings and walls of contemporary glass that flood the space with superb northern light all day long. A superb, sleek kitchen features Miele, Gaggenau and Sub Zero appliances and gracious stone counters. Doors lead out to the majestic garden-scaled terrace that measure almost 1,900sf in size. This exceptionally landscaped terrace is appointed to perfection with trellised seating areas designed to create real outdoor living spaces. An impressive observation deck area overlooks the Hudson River: A terrace of this scale is rare and collector-worthy. On this floor are a grand Master Suite with a walk in closet and large en-suite bathroom and a powder room plus a laundry room. A glamorous stairway leads up to the second level of this ultra-duplex: A mezzanine lounge area leads to an additional bedroom that shares a large bathroom with a third bedroom. Finished to perfection, this move-in-ready penthouse is a rare find indeed, located in a building that features a discreet entry lobby monitored by a doorman that is stationed at a secondary entrance to the building. Surrounded by some of the most prestigious real estate in Manhattan, this vibrant neighborhood will soon have an entire city, Hudson Yards, just to its north offering a spectacular array of cultural, retail and restaurant options, not to mention some of the world's largest corporations headquarters, and a Six Senses Hotel and Spa to the south.

Chelsea | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The row houses portray the world-class architecture of Greek Revival, Italianate and Georgian styles. The population is both ethnically and socially diverse, which is reflected in the restaurants and retail businesses in the neighborhood.

Western Chelsea is the center of the NYC art world, where you will find more than 200 art galleries housed in rehabbed factories and warehouses, as well as in newly-constructed buildings.

While people of many different cultures call Chelsea home, it has been a mecca over the years for people in the LGBTQ community. One census reported that as many as 22% of its residents were gay couples. Eighth Avenue is a trendy area for LGBTQ-oriented dining and shopping. Although it no longer draws the LGBTQ population that it once did, Chelsea still has many popular alternative bars.

Chelsea is primarily residential, consisting of a mixture of diverse complexes, low-rise apartment blocks, tenements, townhouses, renovated row houses, and luxury high-rises.

Chelsea is an interesting and sought-after place to live, with unique clothing boutiques, restaurants, and delis representing cultures from around the world. In addition to its quirky establishments, Chelsea has fine dining restaurants and a vibrant, hip nightlife, which adds to its allure.

Chelsea is well-served by public transportation. At least six city bus routes traverse Chelsea. There are three NYC subway routes with stops on Seventh Avenue, three on Eighth Avenue, and two more on Sixth Avenue. The 34th Street - Hudson Yards Station opened in 2015 with its main entrance in Chelsea.
