Property Description for 1264 Amsterdam Ave, 5-A

RECENTLY RENOVATED, BRIGHT AND SUNNY 2 BEDROOM WITH EXPOSED BRICK IN MORNINGSIDE HEIGHTS. RIGHT BY COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY WITH CLOSE ACCESS TO MULTIPLE SUBWAY LINES. EAST FACING WITH VIEWS OF NEIGHBORHOOD GREENERY. LOW MAINTENANCE. COMES WITH LARGE STORAGE UNIT

This beautiful and spacious 2 bedroom apartment was recently gut renovated, with a full open chef’s kitchen featuring stainless steel refrigerator, dishwasher, a full-sized gas range and oven, beautiful granite countertops, and plenty of solid wood cabinetry for ample kitchen storage. The living room area features a full wall of exposed brick, as does the main bedroom, adding charm and character to an efficiently laid out apartment.

The apartment is situated on the 5th floor of a quiet and well-maintained pre-war co-op walkup building, with bike storage and laundry facilities (two washers and two dryers, with convenient smart card system for easy payment) located in the basement. Riverside Park, Morningside Park, and Central Park are all steps away, as are the numerous groceries, drugstores, restaurants, bars, and other conveniences the Columbia University area has to offer. Nearby subways include the 1, A, B, C, and D lines.

Dogs and cats under 30 lbs are welcomed. There is a non-live in super. No assessments for the last 5 years and no upcoming assessments planned, so the building is in great financial shape. Sublets allowed after 2 years of ownership for up to 3 years.

A large, floor-to-ceiling basement storage unit is included in the sale. It is approximately 9 feet wide, 3 feet deep and 8.5 feet tall.

Morningside Heights | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Due to the large number of institutes of higher learning that are housed within its borders, most notably Columbia University, Morningside Heights has a very definite college-town vibe. It has been dubbed the “Academic Acropolis,” both for the large number of schools and for the fact that the neighborhood is built high atop the Manhattan schist bluffs that are the geological bedrock of NYC. From this vantage point, which is the highest point of land in all of Manhattan, you can take in stunning views of upper Manhattan and the Hudson River. Sunsets are especially breathtaking from Riverside Park.

Walk through Morningside Heights and you’ll see a diverse population, especially when the schools are in session. It has a generally quiet atmosphere, bounded by large green spaces, dotted with small cafes, specialty stores, and restaurants that offer all manner of international cuisine. There is a modest nightlife consisting of intimate bars and small musical venues, many of which are open to the wee hours of the morning, and frequented by students.

Housing is primarily pre-war buildings that have larger apartments and beautiful architecture clustered around Broadway. You can find affordable walk-ups in low-rise buildings on the side streets. Many of the residential buildings in the area actually are owned by Columbia University.
