Property Description for 441 East 57th Street, 5

Come home to the perfect blend of an intimate elevator townhouse while maintaining the feel, security & convenience of a boutique doorman Condo building. With four full bedrooms and 3,375 square feet of interior space spread across three floors on the 10th, 11th and 12th floor, this sun filled home was stunningly designed and built by FLANK just 6 years ago. The building has a beautiful facade of anodized metal in fritted glass. The 15 stories are designed to portray the look of a block of townhouse stitched into a unified column.

Once you step off the elevator and into the space, the level of sophistication and design will amaze you. Designed for fine entertaining and cooking, the vented Chef's kitchen features imported maple cabinetry and custom hardware along with Calacatta marble counters, a Sub Zero refrigerator and the ultimate in kitchen luxury, a La Cornue Oven. With two separate entertaining/dining rooms, four luxurious full marble bathrooms, endless closets and hardwood floors throughout, this home has everything. Amenities such as radiant heat in the master bathroom, state-of-the-art home automation and security systems, contribute to an environment in which comfort and privacy are paramount. The custom windows throughout were specifically designed to maximize the light, which pours in from three exposures, northern, southern and eastern. This home has all the space you could need to easily entertain 75 of your closest friends or to enjoy this sun filled home in your own privacy.

Set on the quietest part of tree lined 57th Street, surrounded by stately gilded era Mansions and grand pre-war Co-Ops, this home is just a short stroll from the buzz of midtown, and the boutiques, cafes and galleries of the Upper East Side. This location is undeniably convenient yet peaceful-- the best of both worlds!

Sutton Place | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Sutton Place is usually described with favorable words like charming, cozy, great neighborhood, hidden gem, sanctuary, or even small village inside a big city. Those descriptions aren’t from real estate folks either, they’re from the people that live and work there, so it must be true.

The quiet and upscale neighborhood is more like an enclave. It’s bounded by East 53rd Street to the south, East 59th Street to the North, First Avenue to the west, and the East River to the east. Most residents will tell you that everything you’ll ever need is located in the neighborhood. When it’s time to venture out into the cityscape, Sutton Place is within easy reach to Midtown and cultural attractions like the Museum of Modern Art, Rockefeller Center, Central Park and other iconic sites.

Manhattan has always had notable celebrity residents. But for unknown reasons, Sutton Place has had more than its share of superstars over the years. Some of the more iconic celebs include: Marilyn Monroe and Arthur Miller, Freddie Mercury, Sigourney Weaver, Joan Crawford, Michael Jackson and sister Latoya (Just for one summer).

Sutton Place is named after Effingham B. Sutton, a shipping merchant and entrepreneur. After hitting it big in the California gold rush, Sutton built brownstones along East 57th and East 58th streets with aspirations of making the section more residential. Poverty and crime dashed his dreams. The street gangs that hung out along the dead-ends and cul-de-sacs added to the neighborhood’s decay. Sutton was about to give up on his development endeavors but the Vanderbilt’s and the Morgan’s showed up in the 1920s and transformed the neighborhood. It soon became a wealthy enclave.
