Property Description for 99 John Street, 711

GREAT LOFT STUDIO FOR PRIMARY RESIDENCE OR INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITY IN FINANCIAL DISTRICT
Large south-facing studio with 11 foot ceilings available in the full-service Deco Lofts Condominiums. Newly renovated and converted into condos in 2008, this modern apartment features oversized windows, hardwood floors, full-size Dacor stainless steel appliances, Caesar stone counter tops and sleek white cabinetry in a modern pass-through kitchen. The airy bath, done in classic white, showcases a white marble sink and shower with rainwater showerhead.

Building amenities include a state-of-the-art gym with cardio machines, circuit training and free weights; a multi-roomed residents’ lounge includes an inviting tv/seating room with fireplace, pool table and a spacious bar area, as well as smaller nooks for intimate gatherings and an expansive laundry room.

The gorgeous roof deck, offering a stunning view overlooking the famed Brooklyn Bridge and Lower Manhattan skyline, includes cabana-esque seating areas and dining tables. An additional green courtyard/deck off the residents’ lounge, outfitted with cooking grills for parties and gatherings with friends, offers a serene alternative to entertaining.

99 John, originally designed by the same architects as the Empire State building, features a beautifully preserved art deco lobby with 24 hour doormen and garage parking. Seaport District | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The Seaport District sits between the Financial District to the south and the Brooklyn Bridge to the north. The original Seaport designation was limited to the streets east of Water Street from Fletcher Street to Dover Street and incorporated the actual Seaport and the piers. But no more. Today, the neighborhood boundaries have expanded westward toward Park Row and include a surge of new developments in the area around Pace University and City Hall Park.

This is not your father’s Seaport. It is no longer a commercial hub and the seafood industry, which operated out of the port for nearly two hundred years, has been displaced. The older low-rise buildings that line these cobblestoned streets have been repositioned, the SouthBridge towers complex to the east of Water Street has gone free market, multiple commercial buildings have been converted to residential usage and new gleaming residential towers are rising on the site of the iconic J&R Music World which once lined the east side of Park Row.

Still, the Seaport is a small neighborhood, particularly quaint just north of Beekman Street. The streets are dominated by century-old warehouses and maritime buildings which gives the neighborhood its overt character. The Brooklyn Bridge, on its northern edge, looms in the backdrop.
