Property Description for 73 Harman Street

Welcome home to 73 Harman Street, a turnkey, 18' wide townhouse in prime Bushwick. Behind the contemporary facade, 73 Harman is configured as a 3 BD / 2.5 BA owners' duplex with a large, private garden over a 2 BD / 1 BA apartment. Upon entering the home, you'll be greeted by a thoughtful foyer with (one of two) coat closets that unfolds into true open-concept living which spans the sun-drenched main floor of this townhouse. Expansive living and dining areas anchor either end of the space, bisected by a large chef's kitchen with additional counter seating and a stylish half bath. Complete with stainless steel appliances (GE Fridge and DW, Fisher & Paykel range) and exceptional counter space, this central kitchen is an entertainer's dream. Light streams in across the first story from the wall of glass in the oversized living area, which overlooks the large private yard, partially shaded by an enclave of mature trees.  Upstairs, the substantial primary bedroom has three windows overlooking the garden, a sophisticated ensuite bathroom and generous walk-in-closet. Two additional bedrooms share a full bathroom complete with double vanity and his and hers sinks. The upstairs hall is home to the conveniently placed LG W/D, making laundry day a breeze. Nearby transportation includes the J, Z and M lines, with Central Ave and Kosciusko Street stations within a quarter mile and the L train is not much further at Dekalb. If your private backyard was not enough, this home is surrounded by public green spaces, including the renowned Maria Hernandez Park and playground. In Bushwick there is something for everyone and neighborhood favorites include: Faro, Seawolf, Iciran, The Turkish Inn, Roberta's and Santa Panza

Bushwick | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

As one of the most diverse neighborhoods in New York, Bushwick offers a perfect snapshot of just how multicultural the city is. Long-established as an amalgam of cultures and ethnicities, a wave of varying types of immigrants trickled in from the seventeenth to twentieth centuries, with Bushwick largely becoming a home to Hispanics of Puerto Rican and Dominican backgrounds by the latter part of the twentieth century.

With the Bushwick Initiative of the mid-00s that aided in revitalization, it became an attractive area to young professionals and artists. And even now, Bushwick has sustained affordable rent prices where other North Brooklyn counterparts, like Williamsburg and Greenpoint, have become more expensive. Priding itself on the weird and the wacky, numerous art collectives thrive in this part of Brooklyn, once famously named the seventh coolest neighborhood in the world by Vogue.

Though it has drawn in many tourists in recent years (there’s even a graffiti tour you can take from the Bushwick Collective), the neighborhood remains very much community-oriented, and has not been subject to quite the same sort of corporate infiltration phenomenon of its nearby Williamsburg environs.

But yes, of course, Bushwick has come a very long way from its 80s and 90s reputation as being “The Well,” a nickname given to it for its free-flowing and widely available amount of drugs (quantity over quality being the cliche applied here).
