Property Description for 575 Macon Street, GARDEN

Have you ever fantasized about living in a property of the likes seen in Architectural Digest? Now that fantasy can be a reality, in this floor through, one bedroom garden apartment situated in an exquisitely restored Queen Anne Brownstone on a charming block in Stuyvesant-Heights. A private entrance delivers you into a foyer, with ample room for storage of the daily necessities such as shoes, coats and weather apparel. The finished basement is accessible down the stairs, where additional storage and a laundry room awaits, or enter into a spacious room for living and sleeping, accented by historic details including decorative fireplace, pocket shutters and wood details. From there, a corridor accesses the bathroom with a dual shower and soaking tub. Past the corridor, lies the oversized, chef's kitchen including a vintage Chambers Stove, which would make any frequent cook and entertainer swoon. The eat-in kitchen provides ample space for dining inside or simply open the french doors for a wonderful meal, al fresco in your private garden oasis. Radiant heat floors under cork and hardwood is one of the modern surprises you will enjoy in this remarkable home. The property is conveniently accessible to the Express A/C station at Utica Ave. Available for April 15th and showing by appointment.

Quick Profile

Known for its historic brownstones and tight-knit enclave, Bed-Stuy has increasingly left behind its early reputation for being a “bedroom community” and transcended into a highly desirable neighborhood.

Distinct for its aesthetic, it is populated with ornate buildings characterized by cornices, friezes, finials, fluting and other marks of classic architecture. Built up during the period from 1870 to 1900, its historic district runs to the north of Jefferson Avenue, to the east of Malcolm X Boulevard and to the west of Tompkins Avenue.

At one point known as “Brooklyn’s Little Harlem,” the shape of the area has shifted toward attracting a wider demographic of people thanks to the influx of bars, restaurants, antique furniture stores and vintage boutiques. More police enforcement paired with the decline of the crack epidemic at the beginning of the 2000s also opened the door for increased development, as well as the occupation of formerly abandoned buildings and spaces.
