Property Description for 525 Broome Street, 4-FLR

APPLICATION PENDING. Opportunity to live in a classic Soho loft home with wonderful architectural details, stellar location, and plenty of room to breathe. As an entire floor loft in a wide (40'x60') elevator building with only one home per floor, this loft offers a kind of spacious and comfortable quality of living that is rarely found in this price range. Nowhere else in proper Soho will you find a quiet and bright real 3BR/2BA renovated full floor loft home (with a phenomenal layout) with keyed elevator, a WBFP, and a private outdoor space anywhere near this price point.

At approximately 2250 square feet, this massive 3BR/2BA home has everything. A key-locked elevator brings you to the 4th floor, and opens directly in to the home. The substantial front portion of the loft features an open kitchen (fully equipped & renovated, D/W, Subzero, etc.), a working WBFP, a separate dining area, sitting area and living room, approximately 11' high ceilings, cast-iron columns, exposed brick, and a wide expanse of enormous double-paned windows which bring in comfortable light all day. In the rear of the loft you will find 2 full renovated bathrooms (one is windowed and en-suite to the MBR), a laundry closet with W/D, and ample storage throughout. There are two large bedrooms in the far end of the loft, & there is a 3rd smaller room that would serve perfectly as a guest room or home office (or media room, study, etc.). All three rooms are windowed, get decent light, and are exceptionally quiet and private. This is a very different kind of home compared to most lofts in the area (which can quickly feel long, narrow and dark) - this loft features plenty of room to breathe in every way. Tasteful renovations in front and back, and gorgeous dark hardwood flooring throughout. To top it all off, the home comes with a designated section of the building's roof deck area as an exclusive and private-use amenity for this loft. WBFP in the winter, rooftop deck in the summer, and spacious comfortable living inside all year round.

Tucked into a quiet yet centrally convenient Soho nook, this wonderful home is beautifully finished, and sits in an intimate and well-managed 6 story condo loft building. 525 Broome Street is only a 30-second walk to all the best restaurants, shopping, & wonderful energy Soho has to offer. Extraordinary place to call home. Available immediately, normal quiet residential use only please. Please call or email for further details or to schedule a viewing...

Quick Profile

Famous for its art galleries, designer boutiques, cobblestone streets and cast-iron architecture, SoHo has always been full of buzz - wowing both tourists and locals alike. It’s rich with history (more so than most neighborhoods). So, whether you’re a computer nerd, serial shopper or foodie, you’re guaranteed to find something exciting to do in this storied neighborhood.

SoHo is bounded by Houston Street to the north, Canal Street in the south, 6th Avenue to the west and Crosby Street on the east.

The neighborhood has gone through many ups and downs over its long history. Enough to make a voluminous history book. When the Dutch discovered Lower Manhattan, they came across indigenous people living on the island. Technically, the American Indians were the first Manhattanites and then the Dutch moved in making them the second original Manhattanites.

After the Civil War ended, the west side of Lower Manhattan flourished because the shipping routes changed. Textiles and the need for all types of products increased. Warehouses and large lofts were built and replaced farmland to accommodate the commerce. Many of those buildings are still standing and give SoHo its unique character and charm.

The bustling commerce eventually stopped and in the mid 1800’s, well-to-do families began moving into SoHo. They built exquisite buildings, many of which are characterized by their cast-iron facades. Soon after it became residential, theatres, music halls and eateries followed. The wealthy eventually left and the once prosperous district began another decline.

The 1960’s marks SoHo’s most definitive period. City planners lost their bid to build a major highway that would level a portion of the neighborhood and many historic buildings. After their failed attempt to revitalize SoHo, artists quickly moved into the empty lofts and warehouses. Some legally, and other move-ins, not so legal. The city turned a blind eye. Artists of all mediums working from their new creative spaces created a ripple in the art scene. It was such a ripple that the well-to-do uptown crowd started buying their art and hanging out with them. The uptown folks eventually moved into the neighborhood and began buying up the lofts and warehouses. As soon as the word spread, up went the property values and the rest is history.
