Property Description for 9 White Street, PH

Fall in love with this romantic Penthouse loft located atop a former 19th-Century warehouse in historic TriBeca! Here, French rustic chic meets modern elegance in a home that has been meticulously renovated with the utmost style and sophistication. Step off the iconic elevator to a breathtaking Living/Dining room where you'll find 13-foot tin-pressed ceilings, classic fluted columns, exposed wood beams, & wide-plank salvaged oak floors that have been waxed in ebony to achieve the perfect hue. An inviting fireplace adds to the allure of this architecturally striking room where a wall of south-facing casement doors open to a charming planting balcony with poetic views of the neighboring landmarked buildings. Skylights flood the space with natural light while gorgeous French doors constructed of steel and hand-blown glass lead to two sky-lit dens and an intimate office. Nearby, the windowed chef's kitchen exudes simple charm, and features open thick-slab wood shelving, zinc countertops, abundant glass-fronted cabinetry, a six-burner Viking stove (vented to the outside), and a large separate pantry. Wander up the centerpiece of this extraordinary home - a sculptural sky-lit steel staircase - to find the sun-blasted Master Bedroom Suite which features a wall of custom-fitted closets and a sumptuous windowed bathroom with deep claw-foot tub, sky-lit shower, double vanity and poured concrete floors. Off the suite, you'll enjoy a magical, south-facing, landscaped roof garden replete with mature trees, perennials, climbing wisteria, and unobstructed views of Lower Manhattan. Back downstairs are two additional bedrooms, each with fully fitted closets, and a large classic bathroom with washer-dryer. Additional amenities include central air-conditioning, custom lighting on dimmers, and an elegant powder room for guests. All this, on one of Tribeca's most charming cobblestone streets, putting you just steps from the neighborhood's best restaurants, boutiques, and all major transportation. Perfectly curated with authenticity and luxury in mind, 9 White Street is that unforgettable residence that rarely becomes available in today's market.

Quick Profile

TriBeCa, named after the small geographic triangle below Canal Street. It’s not really a triangle, it's a quadrilateral and it's bounded by West Street, Broadway, and Chambers Street. It’s a little too late for a name change and besides, QuaBeCa doesn't sound half as cool as Tribeca.

One of New York City’s more notable acronymed neighborhoods, TriBeCa is known for its trendy boutiques, fabolous restaurants, historical landmarks, and resident celebrity lofts. It still holds the title of one of the coolest places to live in New York City.

TriBeCa is one of the first residential neighborhoods of New York City. Way back in 1700’s wealthy New Yorkers built homes and maintained gardens in what is now TriBeca.

Later in history it shifted from residential to warehouses, commerce and markets. After the Civil War, shipping hubs moved from the East River to the Hudson River and revitalized areas like the South Street Seaport and TriBeca. When shipping and commerce increased, the area soon became a favorite spot for wholesalers to store their goods in large industrial warehouses.

Just like its neighbor SoHo, TriBeCa boasts one of the world’s largest collections of wrought-iron facades and Neo-Grecian architecture.
