Property Description for 56 Leonard Street, 23A-EAST

Glorious Tribeca residence on the 23rd-floor, with 3-beds, 3.5 baths, and 421-A Tax Abatement. Private parking and storage both available for separate purchase. Space, light and luxury create the dreamscape you are transported to, from the moment you enter the expansive foyer of Apartment 23A-EAST, and you are drawn to the panoramic views and the soaring 11' ceilings with floor-to-ceiling windows that provide soothing sunlight and energizing city views, including the Chrysler Building, the Manhattan Bridge and the Hudson River. Your art collection will exude its beauty on the expansive walls.

This is an exciting opportunity to purchase an apartment in the sky at the one and only 56 Leonard, where just five out of the 145 apartments are repeated, and no two floor plates are the same. Developed from the inside-out and each room designed as individual pixels grouped together on each floor, by Pritzker Prize-winning architects Herzog & de Meuron. Their inspiring design juxtaposes the angular features of the building's exterior with the sinuous forms of the apartment's interiors, featuring a coveted split floor plan with a gracious master bedroom, a dramatic corner Great Room adjacent to the sumptuous open kitchen, two additional bedrooms on the east side, three custom en-suite bathrooms, a tranquil powder room, and two balconies - one ideally adjoining the living room and the other adjoining the master bedroom.

The sleek social kitchen with Absolute Black granite center island and white Corian counter tops, has integrated appliances - Sub-Zero refrigerator, Miele oven and cook top with fully-vented hood, Miele dishwasher and Sub-Zero wine-cooler, satin-etched glass cabinets provide excellent storage; windowed five-fixture master bath of travertine and marble, with radiant heated floors; Appalachian solid White Oak flooring throughout for a chic and minimalist aesthetic; 4-pipe heating and cooling system for year-round multi-zone climate control and a washer/dryer.

56 Leonard features an original, exterior sculpture commissioned from Anish Kapoor, and is a full-service building offering 17,000 SF of sumptuous amenities: indoor pool, screening room, residents lounge in black-clad VIP style, outdoor sundeck, fitness center, steam room and sauna, and playroom. The central location in Tribeca - a world-renowned neighborhood, is perfect for its close proximity to fine shopping and restaurants, transportation, fabled streets, architecture of a bygone era, art galleries, museums, and culture.

Quick Profile

TriBeCa, named after the small geographic triangle below Canal Street. It’s not really a triangle, it's a quadrilateral and it's bounded by West Street, Broadway, and Chambers Street. It’s a little too late for a name change and besides, QuaBeCa doesn't sound half as cool as Tribeca.

One of New York City’s more notable acronymed neighborhoods, TriBeCa is known for its trendy boutiques, fabolous restaurants, historical landmarks, and resident celebrity lofts. It still holds the title of one of the coolest places to live in New York City.

TriBeCa is one of the first residential neighborhoods of New York City. Way back in 1700’s wealthy New Yorkers built homes and maintained gardens in what is now TriBeca.

Later in history it shifted from residential to warehouses, commerce and markets. After the Civil War, shipping hubs moved from the East River to the Hudson River and revitalized areas like the South Street Seaport and TriBeca. When shipping and commerce increased, the area soon became a favorite spot for wholesalers to store their goods in large industrial warehouses.

Just like its neighbor SoHo, TriBeCa boasts one of the world’s largest collections of wrought-iron facades and Neo-Grecian architecture.
