Property Description for 40 East 10th Street, 6-B

French industrial chic meets Downtown cool in this meticulously renovated 2BR Prewar residence located in a full-service doorman building on a prime tree-lined block in Greenwich Village. A wide entrance gallery - ideal for displaying your art collection - leads to a perfectly proportioned Living/Dining room with high beamed ceilings, a wood-burning fireplace with carved plaster mantel, and brilliant southern light from a wall of classic casement windows. Here, custom details such as repurposed wood bookshelves, hand-crafted steel cabinetry, and organic rough-hewn window sills, all add texture and warmth to the room and create a sense of timeless elegance that you will love to call home.

Off the living room, an oversized Den/Guest room is bathed in morning light and offers more custom steel storage with built-in file cabinets and a fully fitted closet with custom leather door fronts. Nearby, a long hallway with an enormous walk-in-closet leads to the gorgeous state-of-the-art windowed chef's kitchen - an incredible room with polished concrete floors, endless custom steel and screened glass cabinetry, a zinc eat-in bar, abundant European-style under the counter storage, and top-of-the-line appliances including a Miele cooktop and Bertazzoni stove. A dramatic 8-foot steel screened glass door - itself a piece of art - opens to a striking windowed powder room with custom Duravit sink and industrial fittings by Chicago faucets. The allure continues in the corner Master Bedroom suite, a light-filled sanctuary framed by walls of casement windows and featuring a large walk-in closet, more custom steel cabinetry with perforated screen fronts, and a magnificent en-suite bathroom replete with classic mosaic flooring, Venetian plaster walls, a Carrera marble sink by Urban Archeology, and a sensuous Kholer soaking tub surrounded by antique mirrors.

Every inch of this exquisite home has been carefully considered and curated with luxury and comfort in mind. From the pale grey-blue oak flooring, to the soothing milk-painted walls, to the original stripped wood doors with their antique crystal knobs, each material catches your eye and visually stimulates the senses and invites you to relax and forget the stresses of the world outside.

Additional amenities include McQuay through-wall heating and air conditioning units with hand-crafted steel covers, an alkaline water filtration system, and a Bang and Olufsen sound system with speakers in all major rooms. Enjoy the ultimate in style and sophistication in one of the most sought-after and prestigious pre-war cooperatives in Greenwich Village, offering a full-time doorman, live-in superintendent, laundry room, fitness center, children's playroom, storage, bike storage and a spectacular landscaped roof garden. A truly special home not to be missed

Greenwich Village | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Birthplace of beatniks, Greenwich Village has always been a neighborhood bursting with creativity, home to artists, poets, musicians and writers. There is a lot of foot traffic in the neighborhood, as it gives convenient access to many other neighborhoods. There are a lot of popular eateries on MacDougal Street and bars on Bleecker Street. The neighborhood has a bit of a college-town feel, due to the presence of NYU. There aren’t large chain stores here, so it isn’t really a mecca for shopaholics, but you can find interesting vintage stores and specialty boutiques.

Available housing is centered on pre-war walk-ups. You can find good deals on the quieter, tree-lined side streets, as opposed to the bustling avenues. There are pockets of brownstones and townhouses, some dating back to the early 19th century, throughout the neighborhood, as well. You will find more luxurious housing in the newer high-rise buildings on Park and Fifth Avenues.

Washington Square Park is the heart of the neighborhood. If you sit near the Arch and close your eyes, you might catch an echo of the music and social history of the Park, floating through the air. Greats like Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, and Paul Simon started their storied careers right here in Greenwich Village. Today, the Village is a celebration of diversity, where everyone is welcome.
