Property Description for 227 East 57th Street, 8-EFG

Stretch out in this spacious 3 bedroom, 3 bath Prewar Sutton Place Beauty. This rarely available, over-scaled home is an intelligent combination of three apartments -- a graciously flowing residence with high beamed ceilings, lovely oak floors, and an ideal mix of original detail and modern elegance -- all in a prime address along 57th Street - in one of Manhattan's most respected cooperatives. From this re-imagined and renovated home's large sunny living room with open views to its big bonus den or 3rd Bedroom (see alternate floor plan) to its practical and pretty, renovated, open, windowed, eat-in Chefs kitchen with Viking and SubZero appliances (including a wine cooler) plus a generous island making this the perfect apartment for gracious entertaining for both large parties and intimate gatherings. Just off of the entry and next to the kitchen, there is a large laundry room and a full bathroom. A graceful hallway sweetly divides the entertaining rooms from the bedroom wing. There are two well scaled master bedrooms both with renovated en-suite baths and an additional bedroom currently configured as a home office and media room. There is an abundance of closet space throughout this apartment as well as through-the-wall air conditioning. 227 East 57th Street is graced by a stellar location - perfectly prime to all Midtown East's cultural, dining, and shopping destinations (Whole Foods right across the street) - and well attended by a stupendous 24-hour staff and resident manager. This is the fresh home for which you've been searching. Offering storage, bike, laundry, and a newly decorated lobby preserving the original art deco character of the building. It is pet friendly and permits unlimited subletting after one year.

Midtown East | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Midtown West and Midtown East have a lot in common. They’re bustling, iconic, and full of people. But just like siblings, their personalities can be vastly different. Midtown East is a bit more sophisticated and doesn’t quite have the vivacity and unruliness that its westerly counterpart exudes.

Midtown East is bordered by 42nd to the south, 59th Street to the north, 5th Avenue to the west, and 3rd Avenue to the east.

The neighborhood is famous for its high-end stores, tourist attractions, posh hotels (budget ones too), and iconic architecture. Midtown East is also one of the largest financial and business hubs in Manhattan. During normal business hours the sidewalks are full of commuters and people moving from point A to point B. In the early evening, when the masses have left for the day, things suddenly get a little quieter and the sidewalks have a lot less foot traffic.

Although largely a commercial neighborhood, residential areas of Midtown East do exist on the eastern section of the neighborhood.

Grand Central Station is located in Midtown East and like Midtown West, it’s an extremely commutable neighborhood. The 4, 5, 6, 7 and S trains whisk people in and out of the neighborhood 24 hours a day. Grand Central Station also serves as a hub for New York State and Connecticut commuter rails. These trains can take you anywhere along the Hudson River or up into Connecticut. It’s perfect for day tripping.
