Property Description for 860 Lafayette Ave, 2

Welcome home to a STUNNING brownstone on the beautiful tree-lined block of Lafayette Avenue in Stuyvesant Heights. Spelling sophistication, and preserving time-honored details of an 1899 museum-quality brownstone, you’ll appreciate the grandeur and nonpareil quality of this gorgeous triplex home. Enter past the wooden french doors to a massive 11’ x 31’ parlour showcasing an ornately-carved fireplace with Moroccan ceramic tiles, noble floor-to-ceiling 12’ Victorian doorframes and window casings with contemporary touches of a crystal prism chandelier and ambient lighting sconces. This first floor segues into a sunny, sprawling professional grade kitchen with top of the line Sub-zero and Wolf stainless steel appliances. A copper starburst light pendant twinkles above honed, white Calacatta marble service island, countertops, and stovetop backsplash, which features a wall-mounted retractable pot filler faucet. Note the generous custom cabinetry with nickel finished fixtures, the elaborately-carved Victorian fireplace mantel with Minton tiles, and the hidden powder room tucked to the side. Exit onto your private deck overlooking an expansive shared garden with wood fencing and charming built-in bench seating. The handsome windows, wide entryways, and pyramid skylight accentuate the natural light and larger than average XL bedrooms on both the second and third floors. The 16’ x 16’ Grand Master Bedroom features a cast-iron decorative fireplace, modern ensuite bathroom with Calacatta marble vanity top, floor to ceiling tiles, and glass shower/soaking tub ensemble. The adjacent bedroom with den is comparable in size. The third floor features a spacious brightly-lit bathroom with modest tiling, marble vanity, glass shower and soaking tub, as well as a full size laundry room complete with washer and dryer in the hallway. Two additional king size bedrooms with elegant lighting fixtures and closets, and one with a connecting study. This home offers a virtual doorman, security system, centralized heating, wall-mounted cooling units, and mahogany flooring throughout. Listing price is NET EFFECTIVE and includes 1 MONTH FREE for a 13 month lease term.

Bedford Stuyvesant | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

Known for its historic brownstones and tight-knit enclave, Bed-Stuy has increasingly left behind its early reputation for being a “bedroom community” and transcended into a highly desirable neighborhood.

Distinct for its aesthetic, it is populated with ornate buildings characterized by cornices, friezes, finials, fluting and other marks of classic architecture. Built up during the period from 1870 to 1900, its historic district runs to the north of Jefferson Avenue, to the east of Malcolm X Boulevard and to the west of Tompkins Avenue.

At one point known as “Brooklyn’s Little Harlem,” the shape of the area has shifted toward attracting a wider demographic of people thanks to the influx of bars, restaurants, antique furniture stores and vintage boutiques. More police enforcement paired with the decline of the crack epidemic at the beginning of the 2000s also opened the door for increased development, as well as the occupation of formerly abandoned buildings and spaces.
