Property Description for 41 Fifth Ave, 16-A

This rare high floor residence is located atop a premier Rosario Candela building on Lower Fifth Avenue and features a gracious 2 bedroom, 1.5 bath layout with light-filled rooms and charming old world details that capture the true spirit and essence of old New York. A classically proportioned entrance foyer leads to a sun-drenched Living/Dining room with high ceilings, beautiful hardwood floors, custom bookshelves, and open views overlooking the surrounding landmarked architecture and church spires of historic Greenwich Village. The bright windowed eat-in-kitchen is fully updated and features abundant custom cabinetry and 2 separate pantry closets. Beyond the living room, a private hallway leads to 2 bedrooms and a fully renovated bathroom. The spacious Master bedroom is bathed in afternoon light and offers 2 large closets, a wall of custom-milled cabinetry, and wonderful views overlooking Fifth Avenue. The Guest bedroom is equally spacious and offers bright east exposures and pin-drop quiet privacy. There is an overall sense of peace and tranquility throughout the home which is complimented by its prewar provenance and "Gold Coast" location.

Built in 1923 and converted to cooperative in 1985, the building features a part-time doorman (4PM - Midnight), 24-hour elevator-operator, live-in superintendent, central laundry room, and a lovely common roof garden with spectacular city views. And of course there's the location, putting you right in the heart of Greenwich Village with its quaint architecture, pretty tree-lined streets, abundant restaurants, shopping, and all modes of public transportation right at your doorstep. Absolutely perfect!

Greenwich Village | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Birthplace of beatniks, Greenwich Village has always been a neighborhood bursting with creativity, home to artists, poets, musicians and writers. There is a lot of foot traffic in the neighborhood, as it gives convenient access to many other neighborhoods. There are a lot of popular eateries on MacDougal Street and bars on Bleecker Street. The neighborhood has a bit of a college-town feel, due to the presence of NYU. There aren’t large chain stores here, so it isn’t really a mecca for shopaholics, but you can find interesting vintage stores and specialty boutiques.

Available housing is centered on pre-war walk-ups. You can find good deals on the quieter, tree-lined side streets, as opposed to the bustling avenues. There are pockets of brownstones and townhouses, some dating back to the early 19th century, throughout the neighborhood, as well. You will find more luxurious housing in the newer high-rise buildings on Park and Fifth Avenues.

Washington Square Park is the heart of the neighborhood. If you sit near the Arch and close your eyes, you might catch an echo of the music and social history of the Park, floating through the air. Greats like Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, and Paul Simon started their storied careers right here in Greenwich Village. Today, the Village is a celebration of diversity, where everyone is welcome.
