Property Description for 5 Tudor City Place, PH-7

This is a once in a lifetime chance to own a beautiful and unique home that is the epitome of classic New York. On the first floor, walk through the entry foyer and enter into a spectacular Castle in the Sky. Incredible floor to ceiling casement windows line the walls of the spacious living room and continue up to the 18 foot high ceiling. Looking through the gorgeous mullions you will be awed by the jaw dropping, open view of the New York City skyline and East River. Southern and Eastern sunlight pours in throughout the day. At night, the city skyline transforms into a magical twinkling panorama as you savor a cool river breeze on the incredible private terraces or enjoy the warmth of the wood burning fireplace. You will fall in love with New York all over again!

This utterly charming home has been completely renovated and is in mint condition with new windows, a washer/dryer and new air-conditioning. The elegant original hard wood floors were completely refinished to restore their natural beauty. The kitchen features stylish cabinetry, stainless steel appliances, stone countertops and a stainless steel back splash. The expansive living room is wrapped with the first of two terraces; a perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee and paper. There are two magnificent master bedroom suites, each with its own gracefully renovated bathroom and walk in closet. On the second floor, there is a large library with a full balcony overlooking the grand living room.

On the third floor awaits the piece de resistance; an enormous private terrace to that’s right out of a fairy-tale. This oasis of tranquility is a glorious place to entertain and create a true garden paradise with flowers, vegetables and large specimen trees. Large gatherings are easily accommodated. Your guests will marvel at the views and flourishes of expert masonry and gorgeous finials. 5 Tudor City Place is one of the crown jewels of Tudor City. The building is pied-a-terre and pet friendly and offers the full service luxury of a 24 hour doorman, a large fitness center, on-site convenience store and easy access to parking. Tudor City is a special historic district in Midtown Manhattan developed in the 1920's by Fred F. French. Gargoyles, dragons, and other mythic creatures perch on the rooftops; tapestries and stained glass adorn the lobbies; and building exteriors feature detailed stonework and inscriptions. The "city within a city" includes scenic parks, a grocery, a gourmet deli, convenience stores, a hair salon, gym, daycare, laundry, parking and dry cleaners. Residents enjoy a sense of community, easy access to public transportation and a tranquil respite from the bustle of city life.

Tudor City | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Compared to other New York City neighborhoods Tudor City is a bit different. For starters, it's not very big. And technically it's not a neighborhood, it's more along the lines of a residential enclave of Tudor style buildings and parks. Even with the large neon sign boldly exclaiming the enclave's name, Tudor CIty is still a little tricky to find.

Located on the southern edge of Turtle Bay, Tudor City borders Murray Hill and lies on a low cliff which is just east of Second Avenue between 40th and 43rd Street. It overlooks the grounds of the United Nations along First Avenue and the East River beyond.

Tudor City is considered one of the world’s first skyscraper apartment complexes. This was considered a remarkable feat in 1929. Early marketing material, aimed at the middle class, described the development as well-planned, well-built, and well-priced housing. Developer Fred F. Finch designed Tudor City to keep middle class residents in Manhattan as many were fleeing the city for the suburbs.
