Property Description for 1366 Bergen Street

Thoughtfully renovated from top to bottom, this lovely townhouse offers fantastic space and great income-producing potential. The upper unit features three floors of living space plus storage and a roof deck with Manhattan views on the topmost floor. Enter up the stoop to the enormous open-concept living space, complete with 11' ceilings, a wood-burning fireplace, a large dining area, a stylish half-bath, and a stunning kitchen. Fit for a chef, the kitchen boasts a six-burner Wolf range with professional hood, a Sub Zero fridge, and an Asko dishwasher. Custom solid wood cabinetry, Carrara Marble countertops, and a large center island make for wonderful storage and work space. Best of all, the entire back of the house is a wall of sun-grabbing, south-facing windows overlooking the garden below. Stairs off the deck lead to garden which measures 41' deep. Up the stairs you'll find two enormous bedrooms, each with en-suite baths. The south-facing master bedroom has a Juliet balcony, a walk-in closet, and a spa-like, five-piece master bath, complete with dual sinks, an extra deep soaking tub, and a separate shower with RAIN shower heads. Each bathroom throughout the house features sleek and modern finishes and fixtures. The front bedroom on each floor features a delightful bay window with window seat, while the enormous third floor rear bedroom could easily serve as an upper-floor family room. A full-size washer/dryer and laundry room can also be found on the third floor. On the topmost floor is access to the sizable roof deck with Manhattan views and a large storage area. Each floor has high ceilings and white-oak flooring. The house has energy efficient, three-zoned central air and heat controlled through the NEST system, as well as a video security system.

The garden level apartment offers a large, open living space, one bedroom, two full-baths, a recreation room on the lower level and a beautiful kitchen, reminiscent of the one above. Stylishly renovated with outdoor space, the apartment is sure to garner great rental income.

This stunner has all new mechanicals, including a new boiler and hot water heater for each unit, a new roof, all new windows and new electrical throughout. Located between the 3 train at Kingston and the C train at Kingston-Throop, less than a block from bustling Kingston Avenue, and near great shopping and eateries, the Crown Heights location is incredibly convenient.

Crown Heights | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

Originally known as Crown Hill by the Lenape Indians that lived there, Crown Heights has evolved into a diverse neighborhood, occupied primarily by Hasidic Jews and one of the largest Caribbean populations to be found anywhere outside of the West Indies.

Head over to Nostrand Avenue, one of the main West Indian commercial areas in the neighborhood, which is lined with stores that have been in those exact same places for generations, providing their goods and services to area residents. Kingston Avenue has similar commercial activities that support the Jewish community, and Franklin Avenue shows the most signs of change and gentrification, with an ever-expanding mix of yoga studios, coffee shops, and organic grocery stores that serve the influx of young professionals. No matter which of these areas you visit, you will find an interesting mix of businesses that you wouldn’t normally picture as existing side-by-side. It is all part of the cultural diversity of Crown Heights.

The neighborhood is bisected, from east to west, by Eastern Parkway, which is a beautiful, 3-mile-long boulevard lined with mature trees. This leafy oasis was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, famed designer of Central Park, the Biltmore Estate in North Carolina, and the U. S. Capitol in Washington, D. C.

You will find a mix of low-rise apartment buildings, large middle-class elevator buildings, brownstones, and some luxury buildings. Century-old architecture stands next to modern residential developments in a visually interesting mix of styles, much as the diversity of the residents exists. People who would not normally meet and mix are forging new pathways to cultural understanding by working, living, and playing together in the same neighborhood.
