Property Description for 1281 De Kalb Ave

1281 Dekalb Avenue ~ Prime 2~family with both a back yard and roof deck- in Brooklyns up and coming Bushwick neighborhood. Uncommon attention to detail is what makes this brick townhouse special. The entry foyer is shared with both the owners duplex and the lower garden rental. Both units feature a modern - yet classic - design sensibility with abundant counter space and cabinets and counters facing the living space. No backs turned to your guests while entertaining! The pristine hardwood floors in both the parlor and the owners duplex add a warmth that is truly inviting. On the top floor, the master bedroom boasts an enormous en suite bathroom with a walk-in shower, double sinks and a skylight. As 1281 Dekalb Avenue is taller than its adjacent neighbors, the beautiful and full roof-deck offers endless sun, starlight and privacy. There is a separate bathroom for the second bedroom on the top floor, and yet another full bathroom on the main floor along with a third bedroom. With 2- levels and a tiled recreation area, the 2 bedroom, 1.5 bath garden rental offers access to the backyard and the promise of a high rent roll.Sitting on a tree-lined block, this gem of a home, is the classic example of how Bushwick marries the residential with the industrial and how a neighborhood can gentrify yet still maintain its original flavor. Only a couple of blocks from the M trains at Central Ave as well as a few blocks north of Kosciouzko where you can get the J & Z, your commute is a breeze. And of course, neighborhood favorite haunts such as Roberta's, Juno, Zatar, and Maite will cater to your every culinary need.

Bushwick | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

As one of the most diverse neighborhoods in New York, Bushwick offers a perfect snapshot of just how multicultural the city is. Long-established as an amalgam of cultures and ethnicities, a wave of varying types of immigrants trickled in from the seventeenth to twentieth centuries, with Bushwick largely becoming a home to Hispanics of Puerto Rican and Dominican backgrounds by the latter part of the twentieth century.

With the Bushwick Initiative of the mid-00s that aided in revitalization, it became an attractive area to young professionals and artists. And even now, Bushwick has sustained affordable rent prices where other North Brooklyn counterparts, like Williamsburg and Greenpoint, have become more expensive. Priding itself on the weird and the wacky, numerous art collectives thrive in this part of Brooklyn, once famously named the seventh coolest neighborhood in the world by Vogue.

Though it has drawn in many tourists in recent years (there’s even a graffiti tour you can take from the Bushwick Collective), the neighborhood remains very much community-oriented, and has not been subject to quite the same sort of corporate infiltration phenomenon of its nearby Williamsburg environs.

But yes, of course, Bushwick has come a very long way from its 80s and 90s reputation as being “The Well,” a nickname given to it for its free-flowing and widely available amount of drugs (quantity over quality being the cliche applied here).
