Property Description for 326-328 Menahan Street

Welcome to the best that Bushwick could possibly offer! Bushwick has become synonymous with independent, new and creative vision, and nothing embodies that description like 326-328 Menahan Street. A converted former factory, this two-story building can be adapted to suit whatever you want it to be: a meticulously renovated new single-family home or even an expansive home with a creative workshop. Measuring an inspiring 38 feet by 50 feet, the upstairs space includes 5 rooms with reclaimed wood floors, beamed ceilings, exposed brick, gorgeous poured concrete floors, a wood burning stove and 1.5 spa-like marble baths. The space then opens into an expansive bi-level roof terrace of 38 feet by 50 feet, reinforced and able to support a swimming pool. The ceilings now soar to 14 feet, and the space takes on a coveted industrial feel, complete with accordion glass doors to the terrace that can fully open when the weathers warm to embrace the outside, or close to keep out the winters chill yet still allow an appreciation of the open sky. The downstairs 4000 square foot studio offers 12-foot ceilings, skylights galore and tremendous possibility, and could become the epitome of an owners creative space.Lastly, an unheard of and invaluable Brooklyn commodity: a garage space with parking for 2 cars or more! Most importantly, all of this comes fully renovated as if by a committed perfectionist. Never has there been an opportunity to leave the grind of a tough city at the door when one arrives at a space like this. 326-328 Menahan Street is your new oasis, a place to return from a hard day of conquering the world and truly know you have already won the war.The possibilities are endless. Bushwick | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

As one of the most diverse neighborhoods in New York, Bushwick offers a perfect snapshot of just how multicultural the city is. Long-established as an amalgam of cultures and ethnicities, a wave of varying types of immigrants trickled in from the seventeenth to twentieth centuries, with Bushwick largely becoming a home to Hispanics of Puerto Rican and Dominican backgrounds by the latter part of the twentieth century.

With the Bushwick Initiative of the mid-00s that aided in revitalization, it became an attractive area to young professionals and artists. And even now, Bushwick has sustained affordable rent prices where other North Brooklyn counterparts, like Williamsburg and Greenpoint, have become more expensive. Priding itself on the weird and the wacky, numerous art collectives thrive in this part of Brooklyn, once famously named the seventh coolest neighborhood in the world by Vogue.

Though it has drawn in many tourists in recent years (there’s even a graffiti tour you can take from the Bushwick Collective), the neighborhood remains very much community-oriented, and has not been subject to quite the same sort of corporate infiltration phenomenon of its nearby Williamsburg environs.

But yes, of course, Bushwick has come a very long way from its 80s and 90s reputation as being “The Well,” a nickname given to it for its free-flowing and widely available amount of drugs (quantity over quality being the cliche applied here).
