Property Description for 43 Howard Place

Like out of Dwell magazine! This beautiful 1915 home has been masterfully renovated from top to bottom. No detail was overlooked and no expense was spared in its Modern and Minimalist transformation. Great care was taken to preserve the innate charm and beauty of its Arts & Crafts character, while re-imagining every square inch into usable, practical, thoroughly modern space. The charming columned porch leads into a light-filled living room featuring a coffered ceiling and bay windows with their perfectly restored upper stained glass panes. Sun streams into the elegant dining room through French doors leading to the garden. Both the front and back garden have been artfully designed and landscaped, and include: a bluestone deck, cedar fencing, a weeping cherry tree, black bamboo, lavender, a purple plum tree, hydrangeas and azaleas. The custom kitchen is a chefs dream with its cherry cabinetry, Wolf Range and vented hood, Subzero fridge and Bosch dishwasher. The centre staircase is illuminated by a skylight and takes you up to three roomy bedrooms and a home office. The dreamy master bedroom is complete with a walk-in closet and charming window seat, and the perfectly outfitted office offers custom built-ins. The same care and attention to detail that you see throughout the house is evident in the transformation of the basement. Its currently being used as both a massive playroom and guest quarters. Its many other features include central a/c, custom millwork, all new windows, ingenious storage space, a beautifully restored brick faade, new awnings, a laundry room, and all new plumbing and electrical. Youre perfectly located on one of the most coveted streets in Brooklyn. Howard Place is a peaceful, tucked-away block known for its charming porch-front homes and beautiful, century-old trees. Film buffs will also recognize it from the film As Good As It Gets. Youre two short blocks to Prospect Park, the subway is right on the corner and youre a heartbeat away from all of the amazing shops, cafes and restaurants along PPW and South Slope.

Windsor Terrace | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

The tiny, comma-shaped neighborhood of Windsor Terrace is bookended between two of Brooklyn’s largest green spaces, Prospect Park and the massive Green-Wood cemetery. Aside from the presence of the Prospect Park Expressway, which dissects the neighborhood in two, this residential community offers a suburban sensibility with its tree-lined streets, low volume traffic and the low height character of its streetscape.

Many homes in the area are low to the ground, lending a suburban feel to the neighborhood, and the area has been down-zoned to maintain its low-rise appeal and character. There are plentiful brick row houses that have very low turnover. If you are lucky enough to buy or rent one, you tend to hold on to it. There are also small apartment buildings, private homes, condos and multi-family homes in a wide price range

There is commercial development along Prospect Park West, Fort Hamilton Parkway and Prospect Avenue, but even these new stores and restaurants are mostly family-owned and operated, maintaining the small-town charm. The pace of life is slower. The schools are good, which is a big draw for families with young children. The people are friendly, which gives a real sense of neighborhood and community to Windsor Terrace.
