Property Description for 572 Prospect Ave

NEW TO MARKET! TRIPLE BAY. BRICK. BARREL FRONT. This 20-foot-wide, two-family townhouse is ready for its next owners. Currently set up as a third-floor rental over an owners' duplex, the house would make a splendid one-family home, with ample space for bedrooms, living and dining, and recreation space in the English basement. Up the stoop and inside the entryway, there's a double parlor, a full bath and a rear open kitchen with a gracious -- and spacious -- dining area. The rear garden has a perimeter of planting beds and a center patio. Upstairs is a two bedroom apartment with galley kitchen and full bath, which could easily be reconfigured to a master bedroom with en suite bath, two more bedrooms and a center den. The windowed English basement has yet a third bath, and a warren of rooms for study, guests, storage and laundry, OR it can be completely opened up as a 1,000 sq. ft recreation area. An entrance from the basement to the front areaway is an added convenience. Light flows through this charming house, illuminating original parquet floors. What makes it a prime location? District 15, four blocks to Prospect Park, five blocks to the F/G trains and down the avenue from myriad shopping, dining and service establishments that have made Windsor Terrace one of Brooklyns hot destination neighborhoods.

Windsor Terrace | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

The tiny, comma-shaped neighborhood of Windsor Terrace is bookended between two of Brooklyn’s largest green spaces, Prospect Park and the massive Green-Wood cemetery. Aside from the presence of the Prospect Park Expressway, which dissects the neighborhood in two, this residential community offers a suburban sensibility with its tree-lined streets, low volume traffic and the low height character of its streetscape.

Many homes in the area are low to the ground, lending a suburban feel to the neighborhood, and the area has been down-zoned to maintain its low-rise appeal and character. There are plentiful brick row houses that have very low turnover. If you are lucky enough to buy or rent one, you tend to hold on to it. There are also small apartment buildings, private homes, condos and multi-family homes in a wide price range

There is commercial development along Prospect Park West, Fort Hamilton Parkway and Prospect Avenue, but even these new stores and restaurants are mostly family-owned and operated, maintaining the small-town charm. The pace of life is slower. The schools are good, which is a big draw for families with young children. The people are friendly, which gives a real sense of neighborhood and community to Windsor Terrace.
